Are these junk? I have a T-series Hi Power, but I ran across an India Ordnance hi power for $249. Is this a headache waiting to happen or a decent shooter?

Thanks for any input.....

Remember, you get what you pay for.

Having said that, a IOF Hi Power for $249 sounds like a good deal.

These are current manufacture, not ancient surplus junk. I believe that IOF bought the Inglis tooling from Canada. If you remember the Inglis was the wartime Hi Power produced in Canada. Although the design is basically the same some parts are not interchangeable (Inglis=inch, FN=metric). Magazines should interchange.

If I was the owner of a mint Inglis I would probably want a "shooter". Parts for Inglis HP's areen't as easy to find. Marstar of Canada has maybe the best supply of Inglis parts. I have not heard of a parts source for IOF.

All of the IOF HP's I've seen make the wartime Inglis's look well made. I don't think IOF believes in polishing or fine tolerances.

Are you sure these are new production?  Most that I have seen look like new parkerizing over old pitting.  That, and the grips looked like surplus.

They're new production , allright...

Somehow the Indians figured out how to build a used gun factory.

Local shop has been sitting on one for a couple of years.  Look rough as can be.  Sights were crap.  Barleycorn front with square notch rear.

There's nothing wrong with them. Mine functions fine, accuracy level is acceptable for a military pistol. As for the comments about rough finish and poor sights, well, the finish isn't much different than my original Inglis and the the fixed sights are exactly the same as the Inglis-small, military issue. And the trigger on my Indian hi-power is actually pretty nice. In all, much like the Ishapore MKIII's. Not pretty but they work.
