I have what appears to be a 1988 MkII based on the ridge down the slide and fixed sights, (Browning swears it is a MkIII and it does appear to have a cast frame), that when I depress the magazine release, the magazine drops about 2.5 to 3 inches and stops. I then have to pull it out in order to reload. It does this with the factory original magazines and aftermarket mags as well and it does not matter if the mad has zero rounds or 13.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what should I do to correct this.

As a side note, I recently purchased a Browning BDA 380 for the wife and the mags drop free and clear every time regardless of whether they are empty or fully loaded.

Any info will be appreciated.
Thanks!

On my HP, if the grip screws are too tight, it would do as you described. An easy way to check what's wrong is remove the grips completely & watch what/where the mags are hanging on.

If it slides out w/o the grips on, problem solved.

If there's any sort of problem with any sort of gun, chances are I've had it at least once................

Other than slightly backing off the grip screws, do you still have the magazine safetly in your pistol? Removing the mag safety could also help.
