stiff,
Ok, had the same issue with an early FN MK II Gun. This one is an Early FM argy gun You can squeeze the trigger, and it is almost two stage, metal (sear?) moving against the hammer for a 1/32nd of an inch, stiff and as the slack is taken up, then the final squeeze of the trigger abit stiffer and then hammer will fall. is this easily correctable? |

I think it's mag safety - see if your mag front is scratched.. http://230grain.com/showthread.php?1521-How-to-get-rid-of-the-Hi-Power-Magazine-Disconnect-%28lots-of-pics%29 any gunsmith can remove a mag safety from an HP making the trigger so much better! Not the mag disconnect, have a Mk III no issue, Maybe a better description: 1. Take up the normal slack with trigger. 2. Meet resistance 3. Squeeze Trigger 4. Trigger moves and you feel the sear bearing against the hammer (1st stage) 5. Trigger becomes hard, press harder, trigger trips the hammer, hammer falls. (2nd stage) The MDS is present. |

I had almost the same problem on an israeli import. Look at the sear notch on your hammer. If you have a 10x lupe or something it's better. I'll bet you see a small step in the sear notch. I was able to polish mine out and it works well now, but new hammers are probably in both of our futures.
