[ARCHIVED THREAD] - new kel tec 9 problems

Bough a Kel Tec 9 last weekend, took it to the range today to break it in. shot about 100 or so rounds and I decided to field strip it see how dirty it was. Got it apart ok, but when I put it together the slide won't go forward. I have tried over and over. The barrel, guide rod & spring are all installed correctly. The take down pin is in the proper position.
Any one else have this ?

I'd hate to send it back for something simple.

Mystery solved!!! The take down pin has to be tapped in. THere is a small spring it engages. Unless you have super thumbs, you need a slight tap with a rawhide mallot. Problem sloved

You don't need any tools to field strip a kel-tec pf-9.
