Looking to buy a .32 pocket pistol.  I am torn between the Beretta Tomcat and the Kel-Tec P32.  I had a P32 when the first came out but was not impressed only because it shot so low and to the left and relatively short range.  I know these are not target guns but it seemed a bit too far off for my liking.  After doing some reading, I see that Kel-Tec has done some improvements to the P32 and wonder if these make any difference in buying it over a Berestta 3032 Tomcat.  Any thoughts?

Well . .

Low and left at close range would indicate the shooter anticipating recoil.

I have both - a second generation Kel Tec and a Tomcat. Both have been 100% reliable in several hundred rounds each.

Tomcat is a little easier to shoot due to the ability to fire single action.  As a hide-away the Kel Tec is a better choice.

I've carried my little Kel Tec as a BUG/second gun  for the past couple of years.  Always been 100% reliable.

I have one of the little Berreta (Minx) and it is the second one I have owned. They are great little pistols and I love the tip up barrel. Having said that, I also own a Kel-Tec P32 and it is the one I carry. Not a lot of difference in actual size except for thickness. And that is a big difference. The thin little P32 makes for a much easier to hide little pocket gun. I also prefer the trigger system on the Kel-tec over the Berreta for a carry gun.
My vote...try anothe P32 and see how you like it.

I've had the Tomcat and the Kl-Tec. I sold the Beretta and kept the Kel-Tec, because the plastic one is a lot easier to carry, and it shoots straight as long as you keep in mind to use good trigger control.

I don't want to hijack, but I bought the P32 when it first came out. I had numerous FTF & FTE and simply put the gun in the safe. I've been carrying a G27, and more recently a Walther PPS. There are times however, that I'd love to have the smaller profile of the 32.

I don't recall the ammo I was using, but I didn't try a variety. Please recommend a load that usually gives reliable function so I can dust of the 32.

FWIW, accuracy on mine was just fine - it just didn't seem to be a platform I could trust.

Thanks - Keib

The New P32's are GTG.

But Like .32's in general....They can suffer Rim lock when HPs are used.
Kel-tec has a fix for that.

If you want a .32acp..
IMHO
Then go with the P32.
But you your open minded.

Thanks for the input.  I think I am going to search out another P32 and will take a look at the P3AT also...

A few years ago, I bought a secondhand P32, and first trip to the range it dropped the mag with every shot.  I sent it back, and KT either replaced everything but the frame or returned a brand new pistol to me with the same serial number!  I've had no trouble whatsoever with it since.

Give the keltec another try, I love mine and had no issues with it. The accuaracy is great for such a small pistol. I can hit all chest shots at 25 yards with it on a B27 target. 7-10 yards I hit where I want.

Give it another try and just be sure to run hardball through it- thats the key to it's reliability.

Goodluck...
