sorry i have no photos I was in the local shop yesterday when a man brought his P11 in. His pistol had the take down pin out and slide locked back in the open position. The problem is the guide rod was not protruding out the front and the slide lock as not holding the slide open. It appears the guide rod jumped the track and locked the pistol open when he was putting the pistol back together. We first thought the flat end of the guide rod sheared off. This was not the case it has only jumped out of the barrel groove and over the stop on the frame. IT was fixed by putting a flat head screwdriver in the mag well and manipulating the guide rod and forcing the slide forward. Once the pistol was put back together it seems to function ok but we never test fired it. The owner was informed to do so before carrying it again. Has anyone else have this happen? |
No, no problems with my plain jane P11. was it the stock plastic guide rod, or the upgrade stainless one? I'm thinking about upgrading mine. |

It was the plastic stock guide rod. As far as this guys P11 I never had this problem with my PF9 or P.32...or even heard of such a thing till i saw it last night. I had posted before about upgrading to a steel guide rod but a few people said it was a bad idea. Something to do with the steel rod tearing up the frame....I never upgraded... |

This happens sometimes during reassembly. It is not all that common, but it is fairly easy to remedy. It isn't something that happens while shooting, so it won't be something to be particularly concerned with. LINK |
Ah I was wondering that very thing. Good reason to always do a function check after reassembly. |
