I have a Kel-tec P40 that I'm considering trading in on a Glock 23. The P40 is in excellent shape with no signs of wear, original box and manual an extra magazine, the Kel-tec widened trigger shoe and the attachment to the magazine that gives you better lower hand support. Can someone give me an idea what this gun may be worth on trade? The gun is about 3 years old with maybe 150 rounds through it. Thanks! |
| Not knowing off the top of my head (stuck at work)what the value would be, you do lose some money trading it in towards something else. You may want to hold on to it rather than take the loss. Makes a good back up and will use the same ammo as your new Glock...or where would you find a .40 cal. handgun for what they might offer you? Just my thoughts and my opinion, only. |
| Thanks for the advice, but I decided to do the trade today. I thought hard about keeping the Kel-tec, but I just didn't like it that much. I found mine to be not very accurate and the .40 caliber on such a light and compact handgun caused far more recoil than I care for. I purchased a Glock 34 about 2 months ago, my first Glock, and was so impresed that I'm eventually going to convert my entire semi-automatic handgun arsenal over to Glock. |

You're right the P-40 does have a lot of recoil and that's one of the reasons that the factory discontinued them, that and they won't stand limp wristing because they'll jam if not held firmly. I have a hard chromed P-40 and it's a far better carry gun than the baby Glocks, which are far to large for pocket carry... 7th |
