Just picked up a hard chrome PF9, did not realize that they are hard to find and pretty sought after till I got it and started checking around.

Overall the finish looks great except for a small mark or two on the right side of the slide. Was looking around a few minutes ago and came across the clip thats made for them so you can carry them without a holster. Which does not at all appeal to me, but I believe it has probably had one on it at one time leaving a mark on the slide.

Now to my question. Is the hard chrome finish able to be polished? With what? I would like to get the marks off the slide if possible. No big deal if I can't, but would rather they not be there.

hard chrome is just that.  its super hard.  now you may could polish it with some polishing rouge and a bench grinder with a buffing wheel but i cant promise a huge difference.

it really depends on the scratch and the thickness of the plating. If it's a light surface stuff, then it shouldn't be too hard to polish off without taking off the plating. anything more than light surface stuff, I'd leave alone.

I also have a HC PF-9. Mine also got a few blemishes on the top of the slide from me holstering and getting banged up (sometimes, I forget and drop my keys in the same pocket). While they are indeed hard and more durable than the blued or parked variants, the finish does not return back to it's original finish once the matte chrome layer fades. You would have to refinish the entire slide. I could be wrong on this but that's what I read and gave up on trying to fix the small blemish on mine.
