| For those who own or have at least shot with both, how do they compare? I own Hi-Powers, but I have almost no experience with CZ pistols. Lately I find myself wanting to add a 75B to my collection, but I'm wondering if it would be worth while, since I already have 2 pretty nice Hi-Powers. If I did get a CZ, it would be mostly just a fun gun for use at the range and some recreational shooting. Thanks in advance |

I'd pick the CZ for overall longevity.
BHP can have a better trigger, though. I'd advise you look for a new 85 Combat or an original CZ-75 pre-B model; the B denotes a firing pin safety that significantly degrades the quality of the trigger pull. Can't hurt to try one out. They are very similar and very different. In different ways. Both are great pistols, though. |
| Thanks for the replies. I did see the other threads, but the posts are a bit one-sided being that it is a Browning forum. I figured I'd try and get some opinions from the other side of the fence. I've pretty much made up my mind that I'm going to get a CZ, just not sure how high up it is on my list. I think I'm going to sell / trade a Glock 22 to fund it. Just can't get the CZ's out of my head. |

Thanks in advance youre talking apples vs oranges. yes, if you get one you MAY think it will be "just a range toy" but it may become your "primary toy" too. there is some similarities and some differences. it all depends on what youre looking for. have you handled one yet? if not, do so. then ask youself, do you like it and do you want one? asking is one thing, handling/shooting is another and usually speaks alot louder and more clearer then anything else. ALL of my guns are for FUN first and formost. btw, i have both, a couple of BHPs but a shit load more CZs. I like CZs since i like how they fit/feel in my hand, how they shoot and the variety CZ offers. asking OPO is fine, but i would try to find one to shoot and see how you like it. either way, you will know for better or for worse. |

I have and enjoy both.
Overall, the BHP is a bit more elegant and feels slimmer and more trimmed, but the actual differences are small. The trigger on the CZ is lighter but the BHP's is crisper. The reset on the BHP sucks but it's something you can get used to. The CZ is fine in that regard. The BHP is better finished, but the CZ isn't a cheap gun by any stretch. The CZ is much cheaper, and there are more variations of it. The BHP has more aftermarket support. They're both accurate and neither have given me any reliability problems or broken/worn parts. The BHP is more comfortable in the hand for me, but the CZ is still a nice feeling pistol. |

The CZ feels better in my hand with the factory rubber grips. Remember the hipower trigger with the mag safety removed will feel totally different. The MKIII safety holding high thumbs would tear up the skin on the inside of my thumb after a few hundred rounds. Also I never got hammer bite from a CZ75. David |

The CZ-75 is a more evolved and refined in its manufacture
Some people hold onto the BHP for cultural/sentimental reasons but the BHP is a more primitive design The reason CZ's are catching on so much here in the states is plain and simple The CZ75 is a better handgun |
| I have both. The CZ has a slight hump on the backstrap compared to the BHP. The BHP is a little smaller overall, but not enough to make any real difference. I think the BHP points a little better, but hand size and shape will determine how it works for you. If you do get a CZ don't get a pre-B unless you alrady have some magazines because the post-B magazines don't always work in the pre-B guns. Pre-B magazines are not expensive, just hard to find since they're 20+ years old at this point. |

I never updated my thread, so I should mention now that I did pick up a CZ-75B a few weeks ago. Overall I'm happy with it , and it's a nice shooter. I've had some minor issues with the slide locking back with rounds still in the mag, but I think I have that fixed. I'm glad I picked it up though. It's a nice addition, but I won't be parting with my Hi-Powers |
