Tried a search to no avail...Does anyone own one? What are your opinions of this CZ? Thanks! |
i love mine. Its big. sort of like a regular CZ on steroids. HPs can be an issue on any CZ, but if you let CZ know they will treat you right. FYI, the 97 w/decocker hopefully will be out this year. |
GIVE ME A 97B w/decocker & a LIGHT RAIL!!! |
It is large but not as big in the grip as a Glock. The HP feeding problem "some" have is a feed ramp thing that has a 100% fix. My 97B is the most accurate pistol I have ever owned out of SIG, HK, S@W, SA 1911s, XDs, Ruger and the others I have owned. If you like grip as far as size it is a fantastic pistol for what you pay for it. |
I would love to see one with a full leangth rail but I would rather stick to the manual saftey do to it is easier to do a trigger job on one and I like the trigger better on the manual saftey CZs I have compared to my P01s. |

I sold mine about a year ago as it would not reliably feed any hollow point ammo. This was after a trip to CZ-USA for a ramp job and a breach face polish, that was done at no charge. The only ammo other than ball that it would feed 100% was Federal EFMJ. It's a real pity, as the weapon was very accurate, and very well fitted. The slide felt like it was moving on ball bearings. But CZ could not make it work for me, so it's history. The problem has two causes. One, hollow point ammunition is illegal in the Czech Republic, even a manufacturer cannot posses any for testing, and, Two, the CZ pistols have a very short stroke action with a very steep ramp angle, an artifact of their original 9X19 chambering. Larger calibers are just pushing the original design too far. I owned a 40 cal CZ that was every bit as finicky as my 45cal, sold it as well. I would only recommend CZs in the 9mm caliber. In fact I have a CZ75D PCR compact that is a very good handgun and I am totally confident with it, and I am going to purchase a full size CZ75 in 9mm shortly. That's my experience with CZs anyway, YMMV. |
you should say that if theyre going to shoot FMJs then it would be a great choice. |

I own a Tanfanglio (EAA Witness) 45. Seems to be a copy of the CZ97. I bought it when I couldn't find the CZ I wanted! It does feed HP just as well as ball ammo. Just 300 rounds through it so far, but flawless as a 45. Ran perfect out of the box. It came with a free 22 conversion slide & mag. That was very problematic, but I worked it out bit by bit after studying it and it functions nearly 100% now as a 22lr. In fact it was 99% last time I took it to the range. Just one easy to clear stove pipe jam in 100 shots. Very accurate too. The 22 slide has adjustable target sights. Just a suggestion, if you can't find the 97 you want, the Witness 45 is a fine pistol. Shares the CZ design advantages. Mine was $400. Too big for a CCW. But it does fit my small hands better than a Glock 21. It's accurate and comfortable to shoot. And as my son mentioned after he tried it at the range "Dad! Even if you miss the robber with all ten shots you can still beat him to death with it! It's built like a big hammer!". |
While both are .45 caliber evolutions of the CZ75, CZ and Tangfolio went about getting there in two rather different ways. |
| Yup, well made and very accurate. Really soaks up the recoil. they're not as big as people make them out to be. It's the same size as a full-size 1911 hi-cap or a Beretta 96FS. I often CCW mine. I even use it's holster for my CZ75B, so that should tell you that it's not much bigger than any other full size big-bore auto. |
