I went to the range this weekend and went through almost 100 rounds of ball ammo with my CZ 82.  Things were going well until my last couple of mags.  I had 2 or 3 failures to feed.  The slide stayed locked in the open position.  It wasn't a huge deal, cuz I could just rack it, and everything was fine.  But I would not want that to be a likelihood in an emergency situation.  It was clean, so dirt should not have been a problem?  Is there anything other than an operator error that may be causing this?  It happened like 2 times the last time I went through 50 rounds also.  I'm wondering if there could be a part running out in the magazine or gun that might need to be replaced.

P.S.  The same thing happened with my SIG P6 (approx. 2 failures to feed in 100 rounds).

Mabey your thumb is touching the slide release on accident during recoil and you just might not have noticed it considering this has also happened on your SIG.

What ammo are you using?

I have had many FTF's with Wolf Mak ammo. Cases seemed to be poorly sized. Other brands like Silver Bear and S&B and Winchester run 100%.

But the slide stayed in the open position.  If my thumb were hitting the slide release, wouldn't the slide cycle forward?

S&B.  It doesn't seem like bad ammo.  Any ideas?

How many rounds through it for break in so far?

Have you applied a touch of gun grease to the rail contact areas?

You can accidently push the slide release up which will lock the slide open. I say this as it has happened to you with another pistol of a completely different company. Check it out next time you goto the range how your holding it.

I have put approximately 400 rounds through it.

What are the rail contact areas?

Yeah, I never thought about that.  I will have to conciously think about that next time and see what I do naturally.  If that is the problem, I can just retrain my hands to hold the gun differently, right?

I use an acid brush and apply a touch of grease inside the slide in the rear center under the firing pin area and on the machined in rail area where it tracks into the matching areas on the frame. Some of these are a bit roughly machined and the grease there helps until it wears in some.
I found on the one I parked and then guncoated the GC on GC where the slide meets the frame is very slick now. The slide seems to cycle quicker and more positively.
