Hello, I have been in the market for a good solid 9mm for quite some time. Originally I was going to get a Glock 17, but then I realized that I can't hit shit with a Glock. Then I opted for a Walther P99 which is a design I love, but decided I wanted something with a steel or alloy frame just as a personal preference. I then was contemplating on either a Beretta or a Highpower. I saw the SP01 on the cover of some handgun magazine at Walmart and read up a little then head over to the gun shop to check out a SP01 w/ decocker they had and I loved the way it felt, real heavy duty feel to it, no fancy stuff.  To wrap it up, I put about 250 bucks down for layaway, and tomorrow I'm going to pay the rest off. Is the SP01 worth it or should I think about one of the previously mentioned pieces? I know absolutely nothing about CZ handguns other than that I am starting to like them. I know a CZ forum may not be the best place to ask, but I just need some reassurance before I put down the rest of this cash. Thank you.

I have 3k rounds through mine, no failures.  Its a very nice, heavy gun that is very accurate.  Its a steal for the price.  The only think that kinds sux is the trigger isnt great, but the trigger is just as good as guns in the same price range.  With a trigger job and you have a really, really nice shooter.

I recently got a SP01 and am very happy with it. I shoot it better than my Sig 226, which was my previous fav.

If you get any FTEs, its because the recoil spring is often too heavy. Clip a few coils or get a lower power one.

Triggers start off heavy and gritty, but get better. Adding the Competition hammer will make things super nice.

Get regular CZ 75 mecgar mags, they are a bunch cheaper and work great, just hold a few less rounds.

GLocks are find and accurate firearms.  Its just the shooter.

dont feel bad since alot of people have the same problem with accuracry inclduing me.  I have to really concentrate and aim to shoot well with my G17.

As far as the other guns you listed, it still comes down to the shooter.  i believe most guns will out-shoot the shooter, unless its worn out, designed/made wrong.  Some guns just fit the hand better then others and are more natural pointers and extensions of your hand/arm.

The CZs are fine pistols too, but not knowing how well you shoot other guns, you may have the same isses with the CZ.

i would say for you to find a local gun range and rent and try as many guns as possible.   Or even if any of your friends shoot, ask them to bring what they can and try.  you could buy ammo too. Buying a 500 gun w/o trying it or knowing it can be a gamble especially since you wont get your full money back.  worse yet, you may loose more if you trade it.

I got mine from Bud's gun shop. They still have them listed on their site.

Word on CZ forums is that a SP06 (.40 version of SP01) is in the works. They recently released the P06 (.40 version of the compact P01).  CZ75s in .40 are available. The tactical sport, which is single action is available in .40 as well.

I keep hearing this... found people saying it on a number of gun boards when I starting looking for info on the compact CZs recently (considering one for CCW once I get out of this state).

But I can't find a P06 anywhere. Not on CZ's site, not on any dealers/classifieds, nowhere.

Too late. And anyway, why? I like the decocker.

My understanding is that the next batch of P-06's will be in the states after October (of course, that is only an estimate): CZ Forum - P-06 next batch will be in...

Hey no big deal.  I got the tactical version and love it, but wished I had the manual safety version.  the manual safety versions may have better triggers than the deckockers; and, they are much easier to detail strip than the decockers..  I know mine was very gritty at first, but with much TLC and a lighter mainspring my sp101 tactical is almost as good as my 75B with manual safety and stock mainspring.

Enjoy.
