Hello all,

I'm looking to branch out from my beloved Glocks into something with a hammer that is DA/SA.  I have decided on a CZ, but am torn between a P-06 and a P-07 in .40 caliber.  Both feel great to me, and I am having a hard time deciding between the two.  I don't have a preference for the polymer frame vs. the aluminum frame.  I do like that the P-06 comes with night sights stock, but it's not a deal-breaker that the P-07 doesn't.  Although I'm not too happy that the P-06 has a capacity of 10 rounds versus the 12 round capacity of the P-07 .40, I can live with it.  I initially went and held a used P-07 Duty at a shop and really liked it, but once I went to a different shop and held a P-06 against an updated for 2014 P-07, I feel like the P-06 won out, at least in the feel of the controls department.  I can appreciate the grips that either one has.  The research I have done says overall that either is good, and I may end up owning both eventually, but which should I start with?  I can get a P-07 for about $130 cheaper than a P-06.

P-07s are everywhere; P-06s are not.  If you found a P-06, get it.  You don't know when you'll find one again.  Heck, it's probably already gone!

I got one of the older P07's earlier this year.  It changed my whole outlook on plastic guns.  I've been through the Glock/XDM/M&P route and finally found a real shooter.

Mine is in .40 S&W.  Did you know you can buy the P09 magazines and use them as well?  A 12 rounder in the gun with 15/16 round magazines as your reload.

I also bought a 9MM top end from CZ USA.  They had used assemblies for $200 each and I bought one.  Now I can just remove the slide stop, remove the .40 S&W top end, slide on the 9MM top end, insert the slide stop and 9MM magazine and shoot 9MM.  If the point of aim/point of impact is different for each caliber its no big deal because each caliber has it's on sights on its own slide.

The P07 impressed me so much I bought a P09 in 9MM.  I'm still checking that one out.

One of the things that determined my try out for the P07 was the availability of spare parts.  If you've ever spent time trying to find parts for an M&P and had to buy one piece here and one piece there and wait on another piece, or figure out which "generation" part will/won't fit your M&P you'll be amazed when you check out CZ USA, CZ Custom, or Cajun Gun Works and look at the selection of available parts.

I only need one more.  I plan to get a .40 S&W converted to .357 SIG (that was the idea when I bought the P07 but I'm not messing with something that shoots the groups that gun does, I'll have to buy another one).

Oh, coming from 1911's, I wanted thumb safeties and the P07/P09 comes with the ambidextrous decockers installed but has the ambidextrous thumb safeties in a small bag in the box with instructions for installation in the owner's manual.  I switched both mine to safeties so I can carry them cocked/locked like I carry my 1911s.

I found a shop that has a P-06 in stock, but they are a bit of a drive for me.  I'd most likely order online for either one, but I have found a few places that have the P-06 in stock.

Good to know the P-07 can use the P-09 mags.

The price for a 9mm conversion doesn't sound bad either.

I have only really owned Glocks, so spare parts haven't been an issue, fortunately.

I'm more interested in having a decocker than a thumb safety but it is nice that it's easy to change if desired.
