Friend of mine got a new SP01 Tactical, loaded some Cor-bon jhp's into a mag and racked the slide. Tried ejecting the chambered round after dropping the mag and the slide will not rack. Can only pull it back a few mm. Stumped. Ideas?

ETA: verified ammo is 9mm Cor-bon +p

Sounds like the firing pin block is screwed up...

Call CZ.

Is there a live round in the chamber? Can he try to fire it in a safe manner?

Yank the slide back and forth pushing hard back and hard forward and use the decocker, pull the trigger, try a combination of that maybe???

Like I wrote above though, I'd call CZ, he'll probably get a new gun out of it.

Yes there is a live round in the chamber right now. Can't fire the weapon now as we are at his home. Used the decocker, tried racking the slide back and forth several times. Gun is a xmas gift, he hasn't even shot it yet. Its brand new.

Huh... take a 20 minute drive and find somewhere to fire it, plenty of places to do that in AZ right? If it ejects after firing, throw some snap caps in it and see if it is still having troubles.
I'd still call CZ about it tomorrow. I would be concerned with a gun like that.

Before trying to shoot the gun now are you sure he used the right ammo? Make sure he didn't use 40 cal or something else.

Can he pull it back far enough to align the "take-down" notches and pull out the slide stop? If he can, then you'd be able to pull the whole slide / barrel assembly off the gun and possibly be able to pull the barrel out and push the round out with a dowel or rod.

So he went out last night and shot it after I left his house.  Functioned fine, ejected the spent case.  Said he didn't run any more rounds through it yet.  I told him to run a few hundred rounds of fmj through it to break it in before trying more jhp.  Sounds like it was stuck in the chamber somehow.
