Hey all,

As you may or may not know, I have an SP-01 Tactical in 9mm that I absolutely love to shoot. However, when I took it out last weekend, I noticed a flaw that I would like fixed, as I will be starting to carry this gun in the near future.

When I get a nice, aggressive, high-thumbs hold (right handed BTW), I notice that the tip of my right thumb is hitting the back of the slide release. It is hitting it just enough, that the slide is not locking back on the last round.

If I go with a little less aggressive hold, my thumb doesn't hit it, and if I lift my thumb off the frame (which feels awkward) then I have no issues.

My thought was to possibly grind about 1/8 inch off the back of the slide stop, just enough to clear my thumb. My concern though, is that if I grind too much off, will it effect the function of the slide stop. I know not to grind off the nub that locks on the slide (duh lol), I just want to take some excess meet off the lever itself.

I can take pictures tonight if need be, but it's a pretty self-explanatory issue I'm having.

Can anybody offer any suggestions or help?

Thanks!

I high, thumbs-forward grip will engage the slide stop on many guns. You can adjust your grip or grind on your gun. I suggest grip.

I'd try grinding some on the lever, order a spare to work on.

It is a $34 part, and it's good to have an extra one on hand anyway.  (http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=35460)

Another fix you might not have considered, is a thicker set of grips.

You could also order a standard 75 slide stop. They're a bit shorter than the SP-01 slide stops.
