Thanks Maynard. I thought the inletting on the back of the grips would be a huge pain in the a$$ but it really wasn't that bad.
Nothing my trusty Dremel couldn't handle Getting ready to carve a set for my green frame tactical 75 next. I also just picked up a set of CZ half checker cocobolos for my polished stainless 75 but I haven't got any pics yet. They're a little slippery for my taste but considering this is my (only) "BBQ" gun it dosen't matter to me cause they sure look good! I'd like to try some of the VZ's. I got a couple sets for my 1911's and they rock

I've always liked the earlier waffle grips, to me they look exotic. Vintage Grips sells them and offers different colors. They're very close to the originals in black, but I sure was tempted to try white or ivory. Kinda makes me me want to do another Pre B, maybe blued with white or ivory waffles.

It looks like knifemaking supply companies sell the micarta. |

It looks like knifemaking supply companies sell the micarta. Thanks! Here's the thread that got me started. Just beware that there was some "drama" at this website and the OP pulled his photos but there are still many photos from other posters and plenty of other info. http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=263495 Here's a thread I posted on CZ forum with a few pics of my grip project. Not the greatest pics and I left out a few steps http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?PHPSESSID=8b44cb5b609a916b600163dcf5965743&topic=47503.0 Hope you give it a try. It's kinda fun and very rewarding! |
| "How do the old style grips feel compared to the new plastic and or rubber factory grips?" I believe they're a bit thicker. Some folks prefer the feel of the early waffle grips to the later checkered ones and I remember the older CZ75's were so exotic before the wall fell, sort of a forbidden fruit. The older grips and the Pre B rounded trigger guard went well together. After 88 the newer checkered grips became standard and right before the B Model arrived sometime after 94, the ugly squared trigger guard (to my eyes) became the norm. |

So I had a birthday not too long ago and my wife and son bought me some VZ grips: I'm very happy with both sets and took them shooting tonight. On the SA are army green VZ grips diamond backs and on the stainless are VZ black frags. The army green on the SA are very aggressive and provide superb grip. The black frag grips are much less aggressive but still provide excellent grip and won't tear up shirts like the diamond back grips have a tendency to do. The SA is up to 1150 rounds and I had the first stoppage tonight when it failed to return to battery on round 1073. I re-chambered the round and it fired without issue. |

Sorry, no pics, but a question instead... I'm planning to get a CZ-82- besides original grips, and the wood Marschal grips, any other good sources for grips?
I'm leaning towards G10 or linen micarta. It looks like VZ and the other custom grip makers mainly focus on the CZ-75s, and I just haven't seen much for the 82. |

Not the best picture, but it's what I could do without more effort than I'm willing to put into it: The thin aluminum grips at left are nice, but the skateboard tape inserts are literally a pain in my side for carry without something in between. The wood set is bocote with info on the maker carved inside and I've never been able to make out just what the name is (need to put soap or other filler in there to get some contrast sometime) and on the right end is factory rubber. http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q201/Molasses_photos/Toys/MVC-141F.jpg Not too curious about the grips, but what model is that on the far left? Is that the one from Angus that uses the Omega trigger pack? |

Is that the one from Angus that uses the Omega trigger pack? You could probably do a better job of telling me what it is than the other way around. What I know is that it's a 75 Compact in .40 that isn't stock. I bought it from a dealer/friend who'd taken it in from a "well-to-do" guy that likes to dabble in getting custom stuff, plays with it a little, gets tired of it and trades it in. The story that went with it was that it had been sent to the CZ Custom Shop to be set up like a Shadow. Okay, I could see a bunch of the right looking parts and it had an absolutely incredibly light, too good to be true trigger. Turns out it was too good to be true. Started following and otherwise dropping to half cock at every opportunity inside of a hundred rounds. Contacted the shop and sent it in, for what turned out to be the first time it had ever been there. They replaced the hammer with one of the same configuration and did a trigger job, total bill was a couple of hundred. They also told me "It's a sweet gun" after doing the post-work test fire. I agree, but I'm about its background.

What I know is that it's a 75 Compact in .40 that isn't stock. Looks to be a normal .40 75 Compact to me - in terms of the core components (frame/slide). The .40S&W version of the standard 75 Compact is fairly unique; it has a rail and an ambi 85-style safety, but it's still a steel frame like the 9mm version. . The P-02 - which is the godawful Omega-carrying compact - would use P07-style safeties, not normal 75B-style safeties, and that alone would be a dead giveaway. |

My VZ Black Cherrys are in my mailbox as i type. Stuck here at work for 5 more hours... Definitely taking my CZ to the range after I slap them on; gonna run a few hundred rounds of 124 and 147 to settle my new pistola. Looking forward to an awesome 4-day weekend. |

What do you think about the VZ Frag grips? I just got a Kadet and I'm thinking about spicing it up with some of the Frags. |

They are fantastic, wish they were cheaper because I'd like put them on all my pistols. I shoot the SA mostly but the stainless with the frags feels the best out of everything I shoot. |
| Interesting thread. My cz is the pistol my wife and kids shoot. I'm interested in the vz's because they are thinner. The description of the tactical diamond worries me they could be rough on the family's hands. How much more grip than the factory grips do they have? Thanks Mo |

Thanks Mo The tactical diamonds shouldn't be a problem, they're not that aggressive. Frags aren't really that bad either. The diamond backs are aggressive and may be too aggressive for some people. |
