I've been a fan of the CZ75 for many years. I bought my first one at McBrides in Austin, Texas in about 1990. It was a Bauska, pre ban import, actually a fairly rare gun. I own an Action Arms import 75 and and 85. I own a pair of pre b 75 police trade ins and have another couple on order. That's my back ground with the guns.
I don't care too much for the B model. I dunno what it is, they don't FEEL the same. I dunno if it's a weight issue, balance, whatever but to me there is a noticeable difference in how the two guns handle. I just don't care for the B's. Am I the only one? I really don't see any advantage to the B's personally. The one issue I suppose is magazines but I'm going to mod one of my guns to the "new style" and assuming it works will modify the others, then even that won't be of any consequence. |
| The B is an improved model of the 75.Bobbed hammer tighter tolerances.Todays cnc machines are alot more accurate! The 75 is a great weapon!I dont think the 75 is any better or worse than the b model! I wish I could find a 75 in jersey it would be mine.I have two 75b one 40 poly and a ss 9mil!The stainless model has a bigger beavertail which helps on the grip and no bites plus it looks nice!If the 75 did not change to improve what it lacks it would be out of production. The CZ is overlooked by alot of shooters why I dont know.I let my buddy shoot my 40 all he could say was WOW!He is a sig fan too.75 or 75b you cant go wrong!! |
| I had a Pre B I bought in 1986 and had a Kalispell Montana import address. The exterior was the baked on enamel over park and was finished very nice. The interior was finished typical Com-Bloc, rough with lots of machine marks. It was an excellent shooter with a double action trigger pull that would rival a tuned Smith revolver or Python. Single action was nice too. I regrettably traded it for a Glock. When the B Models came out I didn't like the squared trigger guard at all and never desired one. Then six or seven years ago I saw the special run of CZ75B Retro's with the rounded trigger and bought one. The newer style paint is tougher and the exterior finish is overall better than the pre B. The double action trigger on the retro is very typical of a double action wonder 9, ok, but nothing special. Single action is all right too. The real amazement with the Retro is the interior finish work. Beautiful, almost perfect with no mill or machine marks. Overall my Retro's fit and finish is every bit the equal of a Sig, Beretta, or any other quality western firearm. It's amazing how capitalism inspired the Czechs to produce world standard firearms besides designing them. I do regret getting rid of my old pre B and am considering buying of of the police trade-ins at Robertsons' with the thought of refinishing it. |
| I wish CZ would make the "retro" model a regular cataloged item and also offer it in a classic compact version too. I have a few CZ's with the squared trigger guard and have learned to live with it, but I still prefer the rounded trigger guard. I wouldn't mind to own a PO-7 poly gun, but the trigger guard on it is just flat out atrocious, IMHO, and that pretty much throws cold water on that. |
