Mine's doing okay, but it's not like I've run it hard.

I've seen a bit of broken frame rails here and there online and some reports of horrible customer service. I'm just being lured in my the idea of a true switch top gun in 22, 9, 10, and 45

I broke a couple trigger bars a few years back. EAA sent out a replacement after a little fuss, but it got fixed.

I've shot my  10mm and 45 a lot, they ain't broke yet.

I like Witnesses in STEEL

I saw a polymer frame break at the academy I worked at. Apparently 1200 rounds of WWB 230 Grain did find the failure point.

I've broken a compact poly 45 with handloads. EAA was okay to deal with, they charged me for the sear since I wasn't the original owner.

I have been thinking about buying one of these guns in 10mm, but I have read on this site and a couple of others that the slides crack and the rails break on 10mm Witnesses.  Sometimes I wonder though is it a case of trying to push the gun too hard with hot reloads/handloads or is it that 10mm is just too much for this gun design.

I just bought a new-style polymer compact .45 with the accessory rail. So far I love it. I hope they fixed the flaws with the polymer versions by now. The only other gun I found that I liked as much as my Witness is the CZ P-07 which isn't made in a .45, so if this thing breaks I'll be back to my trusty ol' G21.

Not had any issues with my Witness in .40.

I have the .45/.22 combo and it's a great pistol, it is large and heavy though like a 1911.
Never a malfunction with the .45 and once I ironed out the .22 conversion it's been
flawless with Federal Automatch and as accurate as my MKII Ruger. One of my favorites...

I've got about 1500 down the pipe in my 40 short and wimpy steel wunderfinish.  I had to touch the feedramp and chamber mouth just a touch with the dremel to feed Federal hydrashock's.  I've been shooting IDPA with it this summer with no problems.  As for the failure with the 10's a sprinco kit takes care of the problem.

I almost posted in the HTF about this very subject, decide to look around a little and I'll be damned here is DKing.  How bout a group buy?

I have a full size 9mm with the wonder finish and I have had no problems with it. It's going over 1,000 rounds and it's seen all kinds of cheap steel cased ammo run thru it no problem.

My 9mm Witness is about 10 years old and about 6,000 rounds down the pipe. My Favorite pistol! I honestly can  not remember a single FTE or FTF.

I'm glad this thread is still going here. I love my P Compact .45 so much I just pulled the trigger on a .45 Match, $517 shipped. I need another gun like I need a hole in the head but when you love something so much it's hard not to act on it

Well I just picked up my Elite Match .45 and got to shoot it today, and WOW, what a fantastic gun this is. It's a big improvement over the polymer Compact I already have and I always thought that was a good pistol. I put 100 flawless rounds through it after a quick clean and lube and was shooting eggs off a fence post at 15 yards without having to touch the sights. This Match is certainly one of the finest firearms I own at this point.

EDIT: Just took this baby to the local indoor range today and put the first 5 rounds through a quarter sized whole at 15 yards without much effort on my part. I'm completely in love.

Polymer...isn't that what tupperwear is made out of???

Sorry, I'm just a big fan of steel guns.  Even for CCW.  If it's too heavy, carry a smaller steel gun, like the Makarov.  But make it steel I say..

The CZ design is a good one, so as long as their QC is up to snuff, it should be a good gun.  I miss my CZ-75, but i dont need another 9mm.  So i've been considering a Witness in .45acp as oppossed to the more expensive CZ-97 with its larger grip frame.  I like that one in the post above that has the rail.  My other consideration was the Jericho, but they have decockers instead of the tumb safty.

I'd stick with the Steel guns instead of the polymer.  Maybe they have improved, but they never impressed me as much as the Steel pistols.  Plus from the days of F.I.E. they should have lots of experience with the CZ design.  I remember the FIE compacts getting pretty good reviews back in the 80's.

I cracked my 10mm slide.

2 week turn around under warrenty, came back with a match slide and barrel from their custom shop.

$400 gun turned into a $600 gun, with the accuracy of a $1500 gun.

I've got about 1500 rnds thru my polymer 40 and nothings broke yet. I did have to polish things up a bit to get it feed more reliably but for $328 (seven years ago) I didn't mind. I'll by a steel version someday.

Does anyone know who has witness magazines in stock for the 45 ACP full size gun (blued).  I was even looking at CZ 75 mags in 45 ACP but, I think they may have stopped making them.  I hope not.

you may get better results with starting a new thread.

I'll try the importer, but Tanfoglio's website didn't list them (in 45 ACP full size), or I didn't see them.  Sorry about the thread highjack.  I realized it after I did it.  Kind of like thinking out loud on a keyboard.

CALL EAA and ask if you have any doubts.  They are there and have answered my calls.  Im surprised with all of the people that have phones stuck to their faces, they are hesitant about calling someone not on their list.

You should have no problems with Mec Gar mags.  My witness, circa 1992, came with 2 Mec Gar mags in the box brand new, and all my other mags for it are the same, and they run just fine.

I have been searching the net for a while and everybody was out of mags.  That was why I asked if anyone knew where to get magazines.  Ables sent me an e-mail indicating that they have them in stock.  Thanks.
