| My girlfriend was handed down an old looking High Standard cowboy style revolver and on the barrel all it says is 22cal. I am not sure if it takes 22short, 22LR or 22 magnum. I have emailed the company and have not received an answer yet. |
| I have spent 3 days looking with no luck. Even the manufactures website doesnt say. Of course they do not make this version anymore but I figured that I have received such good information from here building my AR I would try here but thanks. No M on the pistol anywhere so I am sure its not a 22 magnum. |
| I have a Longhorn that is .22LR. Some came with two cylinders and some may have been .22 Mag only (not sure). The easiest way to check is to see if a .22 Mag round will chamber. If it is .22LR then the Mag round will be too fat. If it is .22LR then you can shoot Shorts and Longs as well but not Magnums. If the Mag round fits then it is a Mag chamber and uses those only. |

There were several versions of that by the old High Standard Company, now long gone. They were based on the Sentinel revolver design. Fairly popular back in the '60's. Decent guns for the money. Some were convertible but not a lot. Magnums were not very common.
The current High Standard Company has nothing to do with these. They are long out of production. |
| You have a HS "Double-Nine" ,nine round double action revolver.Probably with white plastic grips. It might have an Aluminum frame and Internal wire coil springs I had one years ago. the one I have now Is the Sentinal Kit Gun it is very accurate for an affordable gun.,,,Jet71. |

My first handgun was a High Standard Double 9 back in 1964. I was 18. You could buy a handgun at 18 in Texas then. I don't have the Double 9 any more, but I do have a very clean Sentinel - the more S&W like verison.
Your gun is most likely the Long Rifle model. I believe High Standard would mark it .22 Mag if was that caliber. |
