Hello, I have owned my CW9 for about 9 months now... I really don’t see the accuracy that I think i should out of the handgun. I own 1911's, Glocks and XD's. I shot my cw( and have put about 450 rnds through the pistol. Every time I shot it my webbing on my and is sore. (Large Hands I have) I have tried to master the Trigger Pull and just can’t get it. My shot groups at 25meters are about 6 to 8 inches if not off the target. Any advice to how to shoot this pistol properly? I am use to shooting SA or DA/SA autos. I try shooting my CW9 like I do my 1911, thumb high, is this wrong. What kind of accuracy should I see at what range? As for now I do not enjoy shooting this pistol and currently carry my SA TRP due to the fact I feel more comfortable if I have to use a firearm! All tips welcome! |
| Well I think I will have to now invest in another (Compact) 1911. Its TRULLY the only firearm I feel good with shooting. I would rid myself of the CW9 but when my Wife got wind of the idea, she asked me not to. She actually likes it and actually does not shoot to bad with it... :) |

1. You have to "learn" the trigger. I tell people to shoot the Kahr like it was a revolver. This calls for some practice and learning how to use a revolver-like trigger. 2. The Kahr is a pure "people shooter". It's not intended to be a range toy, target pistol, or plinker. As such it needs to be able to hit a man in the chest at 25 yards. In a real situation, you don't get to pick in which eye you shoot the bad guy, you'll thank your lucky stars if you hit him at all. In the "real world" the only thing that counts with a real defense gun is reliability. If you want a target pistol, buy one, but don't confuse a true defense gun with a range toy. True defense guns are often not all that accurate, but they ALWAYS fire. If you can put your shots into an 8 inch circle at 25 meters, you don't need any better accuracy. Again, all you need to do is reliably put a bullet into a mans chest. |

When I first bought my CW9, I could not shoot it very accuratly either. It was like my 9th pistol, and I could shoot my others pretty well. After some practice, It is now one of my favorite pistols, and I can shoot it as well as any of my other pistols. It was all in the trigger pull for me, I was not used to such a heavy pull, and would often jerk my shots low. |
I have 15,600 rounds through my PM9. I consider myself very accurate at 7 yards and under. I very seldom practice at 25 yards. # 1. I can't hit shit at 25 yards with my kahr pm9. #2, I don't consider it to be a 25 yard gun with a 3" bbl. #3 for me this is a defense gun and one that I would hope to not ever have to use but if I need to I want to be very accurate and comforatble at 10 yards and under, beyond that, i probably will run like hell first and do everything to avoid a shoot out. They do have a long trigger, they are designed that way, but the kahr trigger is super smooth and the more you shoot it the better you will be. this is not a gun you can jerk the trigger on and get away with it. It is not a single action with no trigger travel. That being said, I truly love to shoot my PM9, better than any gun I own. Mine has never let me down ever and shoots any brand of ammo perfect. It is just so nice to have a gun like I have with the kahr PM9 that just does everything you want it to do. IMO the best ccw handgun on the market. Super quality throughout. |
| I know that this has been said before, but I don't think you have to worry too much if you can get shots onto a paper plate at 25 yards. The long trigger pull takes getting used to, but if when I'm running self-defense drills I don't even notice it anymore. It's made to be concealable as a carry gun, and it excels in that role. Something else to try.....get a Hogue slip-on grip for it. I found that my confidence, comfort, and ability approved when I had something I could hang on to. Good luck! |

Hi - I carry my CW9 on a daily basis. I have about 900+ rounds thru it and have yet to encounter a malfunction.
Note, I don't shoot it more than 15 yards as I doubt that will occur in real life. I shoot fairly tight groups on slowed, aimed fire. Rapid fire spreads out naturally, but I still hit center mass. I favor a S&W M/P when shooting IDPA or Tac3Gun. Perhaps it just takes some getting used to. Good luck. |

My shot groups at 25meters are about 6 to 8 inches if not off the target. [/img] I had exactly the same thing happen with my P-45. It was shooting low by about 6-8 inches and the shots were all over the target. I sent the pistol back to Kahr and they said that the slide was defective. They replaced the entire top end. I haven't had any more problems with accuracy since the top-end change. |

The kahr trigger is super smooth but long 1/2" trigger travel. It takes some rounds to get the feel of the kahr trigger but they are accurate guns. THEY ARE NOT target guns,
You won't be sticking ANY 1911 style in ur front pocket either. If your gonna carry IWB or OWB, then there are probably better choices out there as weight and size will not be the issue. We can't have our cake and eat it to buy having such a small liteweight 14 ounces 9mm with a 3" bbl and expect the accuracy of a bigger , longer barreled semi. Remember the 1911's are single action, big difference in the trigger systems to. I can shoot circles aroundmy PM9 with my Smith M & P 9 but it rides in my glove box or nite stand and not in my pocket.. |

I just purchased a PM9 and have not yet taken it to the range. My MK9, the all steel version, shoots beautifully. It is heavier than the PM9.
I was shocked at how well the MK9 shoots for such a small gun and short barrel. All our hands are of different sizes and shapes, so that could make a difference. Ron |

I have a K40 that is uncanny accurate in my opinion. It took a few hundred rounds to get used to the trigger after shooting single action for several years. It was like going back to a smooth revolver trigger like my Colt Python.
I have no problem doing quick accurate double taps or shooting small targets out to 25 yards. More practice and dry firing will get you there. It's my favorite gun now. |

Finally had time to shoot my MK9 today. I agree with the ones that say this is a keeper. Shoots very smooth, not what I expected. I did have a problem being consistent on the paper. Some of it may have been new glasses. Some of it is I need a refresher on proper shooting technique. Can someone steer me in that direction? I started out at 50'-16yards. Was all over the paper. Went to 7-8 yards, got better but still not consistent.––––- Practice, practice. Ordered 750 more rounds today. Was told by salesman that they have been VERY busy this week selling amo. Seems people are worried what Obama is going to do. I know I am.

I do admit that the Kahr trigger is different than most semi-autos. It functions as a very light DA revolver trigger. You have to get used to that long reset as with a revolver.
I only own a Kahr PM-9 and it's a real plus in terms of accuracy. I can get all the shots from a 10 shot group into the black of a 50 ft bullseye pistol target at 10 yards (ca 3 inch diameter black). That's my limit for a self defense pistol. |

I have the big dot sites on mine and love um but they are not match sites for sure.. best damn handgun I ever owned––bar none.. |
