Today was my first time shooting my new Kahr P40. After shooting the first few rounds I immediately noticed a problem with the trigger. After about 50% of the shots the trigger would not reset. I would have to take my finger and put it behind the trigger to push it forward a hair to lock it back in place so that I could fire another round.

Any suggestions to what is going on here?

I will be taking it back this week if I can't figure it out myself.

Thanks in adavance.

I had my PM9 and a friend's PM40 apart and experienced exactly the same thing you've described with my PM9 when I put them back together.

It happens when the trigger return spring is not installed correctly. The trigger return spring is a torsional spring that goes around the trigger pin. One end contacts the back of the trigger and the other contacts the frame just above the trigger cutout in the frame. The problem occurs when the upper end of the spring digs into the frame rather than lies flat against the vertical face above the trigger.

Take the slide off, then use a small flat object ( like a screw driver) to push up the tip of the spring where it contacts the frame just above the trigger. It should then restore the spring tension to the trigger.

I found the trigger return spring that you are talking about, but I'm not quite sure if I am understanding what it is supposed to look like.

Is this the spring you are talking about?

That's it. Yours looks like it is installed right. On mine, the end of the spring (upper right in the photo) was digging into the frame, rather than lying flat against the frame.
