I recently got a new TP45.  I noticed that, other than grip length, the TP45 frame is the same size as the P45 frame.  So just to see if it would fit, I put the TP45 slide on the frame of my P45, and it fit perfectly.

Has anyone done this?  Is it safe to shoot this way?  I've emailed Kahr to ask them and I'm awaiting a reply.

The shorter grip of the P45 coupled with the longer slide of the TP45 would make an awesome carry piece.

No experience with the .45s, but my TP9 is one of the older ones that came from the factory with a T9 length slide on a P9 frame.

I to have one of the older TP9 with the P frame and the T slide and barrel.  I contacted Kahr a few years back concerning the same thing you're describing.  They of course warned against such things, as they put it.   Their pistols according to them, are specifically designed for individual models and parts shouldn't be interchanged with their other pistol models.

The email I got from Kahr said, "We would not recommend the interchanging of any slides or frames."

Oh well, so much for that.  It would have made a great carry gun.

It would be a big step that can't be reversed, but you could also shorten the grip frame to match the shorter mags.
