I was at a shooting league on Tuesday night and a guy I know there was having problems with his XD9. He pulled the slide off and was looking at it and noticed the ejector is cracking. Other guys there mentioned they had that problem also. This got me wondering, I've been carrying my XD45 for awhile. I pulled the slide off of mine and lo and behold it's starting to crack. I've run less than 150 rounds through this weapon and no +P.  Has any one else had this problem? I know SA will take care of it and I love carrying this gun, it just bugs me that with so few rounds through it I gotta fix it.

500-600 Rounds through my XD45...no problems as of yet. Just got it out and checked it.

The old ejectors were beefier, and they switched to a thinner part which led to the cracking.
Old style on left - newer style on the right:

I believe you can still get the old style from SA - I'd call and ask.  My XD45c came with the old style, but I bought it right when they released the compact model.

Are you sure its cracking and not just machine marks or lines left from the MIM process. Post pictures of the crack if you can.

Sorry, was away from the computer for a few days. Mine is the newer style ejector. It looks to me where the piece is folded over it makes a small crack. That is where my buddy's crack is extending from. Mine is not actually, I apparantly, was panicking too much and I didn't slow down to actually inspect it very clearly. Thanks for the input guys.

5,000 rounds on mine and no crack.  One things for sure Springfield will fix it right.  They might even be willing to send you a new ejector if you want to do it yourself and save a little time.

My XD40 ejector has had the same small crack in it since day one.  It seems to be pretty common, and apparently it's the result of the way the part is made.  I bought a spare from Pistol Gear just to be on the safe side and it has the same crack in it.

ETA: I had previously contacted SA about it, and asked them if they would just send me a new part so I could put it in myself.  They wanted me to send in the gun for them to look at.

If I send my gun in, I wonder what they're going to say about the trigger bar and sear.

Strange, I've owned over a dozen XD's and have fired tens of thousands of rounds through them and never seen this before.
