Looking for user input on these two models. I imagine the big difference is the weight of the frames and the finish. I've shot the MC and liked it but haven't had a chance to check out the LW in person. Just wondering if the lighter model has any benefits over the MC?
It depends...the best way is for you to try to shoot each. I have the operators at the very ends of the scale, the full rail, full steel 5 inch operator and the LW champion. IMO the champion is plenty controlable, not quite as fast as the full size, but nothing else I own is either. If I were carrying in a drop leg the full day, I would probably go with the full size, but for daily carry I carry the LW>
I have the LW Operator and like it. Only other full-size 1911's I have to compare it to are Kimbers. I can't tell much of a difference other than the weight, but the guys that own the heavier Kimbers say they notice a difference in the action/recoil when shooting my LW. They seem to think the action/recoil is a bit slower and think it may be due to the recoil spring, but I wonder if it could maybe also be attributed to the lighter weight frame? Although part of me thinks it would be the other way around.

The lightweight frame will probably not take the pounding that an all steel gun will, but then again, I have a steel 1911A1 accurized by Bob Day and the Air Force guys with a cracked dust cover, so who really knows? Me? I will take the steel gun every time in a Gov. Model
