| I just purchsed a Springfield mil spec 1911. Took it out to the range yesterday and it worked great. Only issue I had is you can't insert a mag (loaded or empty) without depressing the magazine release. Since this is my 1st 1911 is this normal or something that will break-in over time? The whole gun was still pretty stiff, but putting some rounds through it started to smooth things out. |
| The magazine should meet a little resistance when it hits the mag release, during insertion, but it shouldn't be necessary to press the release button. A slap on the base of the magazine should send it home. The magazine should release and fall out of the pistol on its own weight, when the magazine release is depressed. Sounds like a wear-in issue. If it doesn't fix itself shortly, contact SA Customer Service and they'll fix you up. |

Base of the magazine sits in your palm, index fingertip on the tip of the bullets, guide the magazine into the well and insert sharply home. It'll go. |
