| I am considering an XDm for my next handgun purchase. I'm not sure whther I'll go for the 9 or the 40. Either way, can you shoot lead bullet reloads in XDs? In other words, are they like Glocks that recommend no lead bulletes or can I load away with lead slugs? |

In other words, are they like Glocks that recommend no lead bulletes or can I load away with lead slugs? The springfield XDm has a fully supported chamber and shoots lead just fine. Springfield advices people not to shoot reloads but there is no reason why not. Most manufacturers seem to also recommend people not shoot reloaded ammunition. |
| Thats all I shoot through mine.... You referred to what you wanted to use as " slugs ". Meaning, wadcutters ? Wadcutters generally seat shorter than ball ammo and for that reason do not feed well in the 4" versions of the XD because of the stiffer recoil springs. 4" service length barrels like "Winchester Ball" height. Tactical should be fine. XD & XDM's have rifled barrels and will shoot lead ALL DAY long... have fun melting those tire weights down for " slugs ". |

I shoot a lot of lead through my XDm 9mm. The XD and XDm 9mm weapons do not like bullets with a COL of 1.169 as specified by many 147gn loads. The bullets tend to jam up inside of the magazines. So I backed the powder off to the minimum load specs and seated the bullet down to 1.153 COL.
I have not had any troubles since doing this. No signs of over pressure. I use 147gn Missouri Bullets. 3.8gn's of Winchester WSF CCI Small Pistol Primer Mixed brass COL 1.153" I plan to develop a 125gn load also soon. Probably with LongShot. |
