| Has anyone had to adjust the sights when they first got there XD? and if so HOW? Mine is shooting 3" to the left and 4" low, basically lower left corner of the target. This is shooting 2 different typed of ammo (Win. JHP white box and Federal both 180GR.) off a rest at 20 yds. when i first recieved it and was shooting thought it may have been me being right handed and pulling, but after shooting off the bench i would have to disagree. Both front and rear are dove tailed and wasn't sure which one to move and which way? What type of tools do i need so not to mare/scratch the parts? |

First of all, try different bullet weights first. Keeping to the same weight bullet & just changing brands may not do anything for the point of impact.
Secondly, dry fire the gun! What does the front sight do? Is it steady? Not moving? Have you had different shooters try the gun & do they get the same results as you do? If you've done all that & the POI is still off, then drift the rear sight only. Move it in the direction that you want the POI to move to. In your case, it would be moved to the right. Lyman sells a handy little brass hammer with 3 interchangeable heads (steel, brass & plastic) & it comes with a brass drift. Google up "Lyman brass hammer" & you should hit on it. Cost is in the $12 range & every gun owner should have one of these anyway, IMO. If you still hit low, then you may have to swap in a shorter front sight (or have it done). Another option is to send the gun to Novak Sights for a new front sight. For a small additional fee, not only will they install your choice of front sight, but they will also sight-in your gun for you. They actually had to make a front sight for my H&K USP 9mm in order to make it POA. This saved me untold grief & general irritability. Hope these help some! |
