This was posted on another forum, so I thought I'd mention it here: Springfield is now offering a 13-round flush-fit magazine for the XD9 sub-compact.
Springfield 13-round XD9SC Magazine So . . . no more need to modify those .40-cal mags anymore! |

Am I missing something here? Why 13 when they have 16rd mags? Is this to help conceal the XD9sc from printing? There are two types of mags for the sub-compact and compact models: Shorter mags that fit flush with the grip, and longer mags that require a sleeve that is basically a grip extension. For the XD9, the flush-fit mag holds 10 rounds and the longer mag holds 16 rounds. The news here is that Springfield has redesigned the flush-fit mag so it can now hold 13 rounds . . . so you get more mag capacity, without extending the grip and compromising concealability. |

Did they redesign the mag or just the follower? If its the follower hopefully someone will offer just that. Its cool but for almost $30 a piece I'll either stick to my 10s or buy some .40 SC mags and modify them. It looks like the mag has been redesigned. Notice that the sides are completely smooth, whereas the old ones had indentations at the bottom. |

However . . . had the factory 13-round mags been available, I would have spent a few more dollars, saved myself some hassle, and had mags that I could be sure would be reliable from the get-go. |

It looks way to long like a full size mag.Look at the other mag pictures on their site, they all look the same so we don't quite know whats been modified. |
