Do any of you all shoot lead out of your XD's?  If so, any problems?  Just curious.

Thanks!

It is a conventional bore, so there are no problems with lead.

My XD45s love 200gr lead RNFP much more than SWC
Oregon Trail or Roger's Better Bullets
4.4 gr Titegroup, Lee factory crimp and you're GTG

I agree stay away from SWC they will jam up your pistol. That's the only problem I've had with my XD and lead.

Thanks all for the replies!

I didn't think there would be any problems since it's standard rifling...just wanted to double check from those that have shot lead.

Round nose it is!  Thanks again!

I shoot 230 gr RN lead & 200 gr Kieth SWC lead and have not had a problem with them. I also reload steel case (Wolf) with the 200 gr Kieth SWC. Both molds are RCBS.

Also shoot the same loads through a Ruger P-345 with no problem.

Have even mixed loads in same magazine and not had a problem I do this only at the range.

What are you using for an OAL with the 200 gr RNFP ?

Just about the best load I've found for most of my .45s is 4.0g of Bullseye under a 230g LRN and 1.265" OAL.    The XD45 is no exception.

I bought some cheap lead to reload in my 40XD Sub-compact.  Loaded a hundred rounds on the light side and they lead the barrel like crazy.  Any suggestions on a brand of lead bullets that may shoot well without leaving so much in the barrel? Any other suggestions?

I use cast lead in my XD (.45 ACP) all the time.  Likewise the .40 S&W XD(M).  Both have conventional rifling.  You can take care of most leading by shooting a few rounds of jacketed or plated bullets after the lead.  No problems to speak of.

Can't help you on cast lead bullet brands.  Commercial ones are too expensive.  I shoot ones cast by a local guy I know.  Not having to pay shipping saves big bucks, as does the fact he's just trying to break even.  He is a reloader as well.  I've fired at least 1000 of his bullets in both calibers so far, and they're good stuff.

Do you really shoot a few jacketed bullets through to remove most of the lead?  I was taught to never do that by me old pappy.  It is such a pain in the ass to get the lead out I gave up on them quickly.
