After a few range trips I decided on getting an XD 9 (fun, reliable and comparatively cheap to shoot). I went to the portland fun show this weekend to look at picking one up. While looking through the tables I noticed (and heard a little prior to going) that a few of the XD 45's had thumb safeties similar to the 1911's. My question is, are the thumb safeties limited to the .45's only? or do they have that option for all? Thanks in advance.

I've only seen them on their .45's, but a better answer would be found on the SA web site, IMO.

The only model with the thumb safety is the 45.

I just saw the springfield website and that's what it confirmed. Any idea if they will make them with the thumb safety or just reserve it for the 45?

thumb safety is only on the .45 models. I am sure they that they will one day offer the manual saftey to the other calibers, i don't see why they wouldn't.
