For my birthday yesterday I was given a Springfield Armory 1911-A1 Stainless Steel. Only has had 7 rounds fired though it. With box and papers.  Any idea of the value?
Was bought sometime in the mid 90's.

Looks very similar to the SS 'Milspec' (not their 'service model) which Bud's shows a price of $620 delivered for. Yours has the commander style hammer and relief cut in the grip safety, which the Milspec does not, but the rest is very similar (sights, ejection port opened, etc.) As to a sales price I would guess from $450-550 depending on the market where you are, but that IS just a guess.

My god 45 ammo has gone up in price.  Haven't bought any 45 ammo since 1996.

Was that a retail price or dealer cost?

Shop with GA Arms, an arfcom sponsor. They're good folks & they have darn fine ammo to boot.

I sent Springfield a email.  Found out the production date:

was manufactured June 1995, 1911 45 standard PB9151

I would put some Novak rear sights on it, get rid of that movie screen look on the slide. Or, if it's not gonna be a CCW gun, maybe some nice Millet adjustable sights! Make that sucker accurate!

I was already thinking about replacing the sights.

You have an old school SS mil spec - back then few to no MIM parts.  I would leave it just the way it is.  Those are getting pretty rare to find.  Average retail is $525 - $650.00

After pricing sights.  I figure the ones on it now will work just fine.

Thanks to everyone who replied.
