Backround I bought a 1911 GI model about a month ago. Took it out the box and it sucked from birth. It jammed non stop. Wouldnt feed ANY ammo and could never strip the last round from the magazine. I tried a new magazine and no dice. The other issue was really poor rear fitment. We are talking 2+mm of overhang that shredded a few shirts. Not cool, sharp edge and was exactly what i would expect from Chinese manufactering, not springfield or even Imbel. So... I sent it in for warranty work. The lady on the fone said they would reimburse shipping if I asked.. WHich I did. Firstly I was told they would reimburse me for shipping.. That shit didnt happen. $60 .. Not a small amount of change Second.. I get the gun back, it still has shit fitment and looks the same. I look at the gun and its dirty as shit. Someone should have wiped it down. Finger prints and hand prints everywhere. The feed ramp looked like it had shot thousands of rounds. And the last thing that pisses me off is.... THE GUN STILL DOESNT FEED FOR SHIT. I could overlook the rest but I didnt buy the gun as a paperweight I dont know if to take it back to the gunstore since they promised their gunsmith would look at it or call springfield back.. oh ye.. I want my $60 back ESPECIALLY since they didnt do shit! |

You need to call Springfield Customer Service and politely explain the situation and ask to speak with a supervisor. Explain your problem and concerns to the supervisor and explain what you wish to be done that would make you happy. Springfield has an excellent reputation for their customer service. Keep us informed as to the results. It wouldn't hurt to post pictures. |
|
Call them back, POLITELY say that you are extremely disappointed with your experience with their repair section, tell the lady you'll probably get on the phone POLITELY that you are still having the exact same issues with it and that you would like to speak to someone higher up if you possibly can. Keep track of ALL names of people you deal with and POLITELY explain you expect better of them as a Company which is why you bought SA in the first place. There is a reason that I no longer buy SA, every one needed work before it ran worth a damn. Once I spent the time to get them running I didn't have a complaint but their lower cost models are hit and miss because of poor fitting practices. |
| that is really suprising sa really squared me away when i had an issue. i am sorry to hear that you had those types of issues. sa is supposed to refund you up to 450 for the shipping to them and take care of the shipping back. that is what they did for me and that is there policy. did you send the, a recipt for the shipping charge to them? |
That is about 180 degrees out from normal Springfield actions. They have always responded well to any warranty work or problems. Are you sure you called the right Springfield?

If you're going to offer a "Lifetime Warranty" and base your reputation on customer service, you damn well better have top notch QC. Otherwise, you'll run yourself right out of business. It worries me that so many people, including myself, have to take advantage of the warranty. Maybe it's only the folks on this (and a couple other boards) that are having problems, but sit seems to be quite a few people sending back "new" guns, for warranty work.

AMEN to that comment. I think the reason there is so much here, is we are more into how it should work and shoot. How many ones, that Aren't on boards. Are in the thinking, that that is the way their weapons Should work. Totally Unreal to me. At 70 years of age, there is more that just doesn't Equate with companies today. It isn't just the idea of having to send it back, it is the COST factor. Shipping should be covered. New weapon, out of the box, and it cost about 1/4 the cost of the weapon to ship both ways. They ( Springfield) offers NO shipping, and it is Their problem you are sending it back for. It REALLY is mind blowing to me. |

I have learned one thing from my wife the "Queen negotiator". She took speaking lessons from Toastmasters it has worked wonders. I have seen her get free hotel rooms, free movie tickets, free shipping, more money in her paycheck, etc. First be polite but firm with dissappointment. What ever the company says that you don't like you say back "How can you fix this problem". They give you an answer you don't want, you say "That still doesn't remedy this situation". After battling back and forth the best line I have ever heard her use.... "Can I speak to someone in charge that has the authority to fix this problem" Remember never let them hear your angry. Never swear. If you do one of these two things you have lost your battle. One more thing, never open your wallet to fix someone elses mistakes. All this stuff has worked for me also. Goodluck.

Did you field strip and perform a thorough cleaning of the pistol before firing?. Even though the slide is not fully forward, the pistol is apparently is in battery if you are able to fire off a round. Are you able to use thumb pressure to push the slide forward that 2mm so it is flush? If you can not, it could be the barrel is not fitted properly to the slide which will f*#k up a lot of things, feeding included. You may want to take the shop's gunsmith up on the offer to remedy the situation if you are completely disgusted with SA. |
They sent me mine when I had to send in a Mil-spec cabout a year ago..Did you sent them a copy of the reciept for shipping??? They told me to include this when I shipped, and they would sent me a check for up to $50,Got my check about a week after they sent the pistol back. If you haven't got it by now I'd call and ask... |

I had the same problem with my new GI SS, total failure to feed. I sent it in, they fixed it (polished the feed ramp, replaced the ejector) and I had it back in a week. Runs great now. I included a copy of the FedEx webpage receipt with it and got a check for $50 about a week after getting the gun back. |
many times you have no choice. fedex and ups in genral won't ship a handgun any other way from my experience. |
| This sucks! I just got my TRP back from SA, they had to refinish it and did an excellent job and I was also having some feed issues which they fixed. I had the gun back in nine days and my check for shipping reimbursement about three days before the gun. I have never had an issue with them and have used them many times. Call and ask for a supervisor, explain you cannot afford shipping and see if they will prepay like S&W does. BTW you can ship a firearm by priority mail but you must have an FFL. My dealer will do it for $20 plus the cost of shipping which is still half the price of Mr Brown. |

That does not sound like Springfield. I have dealt with their warranty department several times. I even sent a 1911 back for a cracked frame. They replicated my custom work on a brand new gun and shipped it back to me. Even sent it over to the Custom Shop for new sights (I paid for them) with no problems. It took several weeks for me to get my shipping reimbursement back though. When I called, I was told they cut shipping reimbursement checks once a month - something like the 15th. My request made it to them on the 17th, hence the one month + delay. Did you mail a copy of your shipping receipt and RMA to them? They don't automatically process it and it helps to request it after you receive your gun back. |
