I just got a NIB XD-9. Now I've got a stupid concern.

A very small portion of the shell is visible when the round is fully chambered.

(The image blur and light reflecting off the brass seems to be exaggerating the amount exposed in the photo)
Is this normal with the XD?

Also, what's the deal with the spent S&B shell casing in the labeled envelope packed with the pistol? I hope they test fire these pistols more than once.

Thanks. BTW, other than the above issue, I love this pistol!

I doubt the problem you mention is of any real concern. If she is shooting fine. dont worry about it. As for the spent casing some states require a fired casing accompany the gun before it can be purchased. Its a load of crap really, they do it here in NY.

I just went and looked at my 9MM SC and .45 service. Samething. No worries! Mine would have blown up a long time ago. It is just the edge of the brass that the extracor grabs.

Thanks guys. I was just making sure. I have yet to shoot the pistol. Hopefully I will love it even more afterwards.

Thanks again.
