I really want to get a XD-9 subcompact to bridge the gap between my Kel-Tec P3AT and my Glock 19/1911 Commander for concealed carry.  Naturally, I have been a Glock owner for many years, but lately, the Springfield XD series has been getting my attention.  Before I go on, what do you guys think about your XD-9 Subcompacts?

The reason I like the XD series is because I was able to pick one up for the first time, and hit exactly where I wanted to from the first pull of the trigger to the last.  With the Glock, I had to get used to that GD Euro grip angle because I found myself hitting low with the Glock when I first started shooting it.  I am used to the Glock grip angle now because I have owned Glocks for 14 years.

The only downside to the XD series is that I do not see all the aftermarket parts and accessories, which doesn't matter to me because I only want night sites.  I don't care about target barrels, 3.5 pound connectors, titanium guide rods, etc.

Again, I believe this Glock fanboy has been won over by the XD series.  I just wanted to see what the AR15.com peeps thought about my choice.

I have owned an XD40 standard for about 4 years now and its been flawless.

No, there aren't THAT many accessories out for it, but the only accessories I've seen the need for thus far have been extra standard capacity mags. (she came with 10 rounders, due to the ban)

I also have had a lot of experience with an XD9sc and the only thing I don't like about it is the short grip. My pinky ends out under the mag plate, which is uncomfortable. It does not affect my ability to shoot the gun accurately, however. I can hit what I shoot at with it with acceptable combat accuracy. I wouldn't feel bad about carrying one.

I also had the little finger problem but I solved it with the grip extender from PEARCE GRIP. Other than that it is my full time side arm for CCW.  I have not had any problems out if it.

My FFL is trying to convince me to purchase the EMP over this.  I keep arguing that most 1911 styles shorter than a commander have issues, but he insists that the EMP was done correctly.

I still think I am going to go with the XD-9 subcompact first, until I shoot someone's EMP!  Unfortunately, that is how it always happens...  I shoot someone else's gun, then want one of my own.

I bought the XD45 Service 1st and loved it! But then wanted something that would conceal a little easier.  I picked up the XD9SC and don't even now I am carrying it with an extra 10 round mag.  I got used to the short fram and my pinky feels fine under the grip.  I've also carried the 45 as a primary and SC9 as a b/u.  Great guns!

I am very happy with mine.
I've had it for about a year. It shoots very well for me.

Only one odd (though inconsequential) issue for me:

I actually prefer the 10 round mags to the longer 16 rounders with the sleeves. The longer grip throws off my point of aim. If I remove the sleeve then I'm right where I want to be.

Since this is one of my primary CCW weapons, I carry with the smaller mags anyway.

This is also true of my XD 45Compact.

I've had a G36 for many years as my primary CCW. It was much harder for me to master that weapon. The XD's just seem to fit me well right out of the box.

My .02 cents

I have a Sub-Compact 9 and the only thing I don't like about it is the fact that its wider in the slide than my Tactical 9. I noticed this first visually and then pulled out the digital caliper and sure enough its thicker.

I was able to compare/contrast a XD-9 Subcompact with my Glock 19 today, and I decided that I am just going to forgo getting the XD for now.

At least you said for now!

I absolutely love my XD9SC. It is accurate as hell for a 3". I went shooting today and took the wife with me. She never shot it and the first time she did, she hit the Shoot-N-C target 4 times out of 10 at 25 yards. That really put a big smile on my face. I don't have anything against Glock; there just not for me. Here is a pic of mine with my Tactical XD45 and my friends Service XD40.

I've put around 1000 rounds through mine and have not had any problems. The trigger has really broken in well. The same can be said with my XD45.

I have an XD40SC, and I have zero complaints.  Get the Pearce grip extension for the short (standard) mags.  Makes it a little more comfortable to shoot when you have a place to put your pinky.  For accessories or parts, I use www.pistolgear.com
