After the first 200rds or so, my Micro has been 100%. Every time someone in here rants about the 3" bbls being unreliable, I go to the range & run another 100-150 rds thru it just to prove them wrong. While this may or may not be accurate, I question those who have had problems with the Micro model: 1) Bad ammo. I shoot nothing but FMJ out of mine. 2) Bad maintenance. I keep mine squeeky clean & oil the shit out of it. 3) Bad grip. The baby 1911s will be more prone to FTF or FTE with a looser grip. My Micro makes the perfect carry gun & I've recently switched over to the 10rd Chip McCormick mags as the extra mag I carry. My .o2

I have looked at a couple of GI Champions locally and am leaning towards one of them. I do have a question for you, can you post a pic of the recoil spring / guide rod assembly on yours? Both shops I went to the guys behind the counter tried to describe it to me, but they seemed to contradict each other, so I am not sure how it is really set up. Neither would pull the slide off to show me the insides due to store policy. Just curious about the design and it's field stripping steps. Can they be taken down without tools? Thanks. |
| i can't seem to locate my camera, but yes it can be taken apart without tools, it comes apart quite similar to most double action guns as there is no bushing.it comes with a little piece to captivate the recoil spring and plug during dissasembly, it doesnt have to be used but does make reassembly easier on the fingers |
Yes, it can be done w/o tools. I have yet to own a SA that can't be done w/o tools & I own everything from a Govt model to a Micro to a Trophy Match. |
Big +1 Carry it everyday. |
I have a champion, I think it is a nice gun for the money. My only complaint about it is that it tends to throw brass straight up instead of out the side. I would like to fix it, but I don't know how? . It has been completely reliable, even with cci blazer, which my $700 HK usp doesn't like.
