They are still made by IMBEL, some are machined in Brazil, some here.I was not aware that they were heavier than other frames. I have a Lt. Wt. loaded that has a 2-pc. bbl. and marked Brazil, my Milspec was made in USA, has a N.M. frame & SS bbl. and bushing.It will shoot with any 1911 i have ever fired, been shooting them since '76. It' a keeper.
