ok, i have to admit i'm intrigued. i've been hearing TONS about the XD series and would consider buying/carrying one, but i'm curious about one thing... Glocks always concerned me because of their lack of an "active" safety device--thus i looked to HK. i have a USP that i really like, and that is in large part due to the 1911 style safety/decocker. does an XD have anything similar to this? i am concerned about ND in the holster caused by the inadvertent gripping of the trigger on withdrawl;. any and all input is welcome |

direct force has to be put on the trigger coming directly rearwards, lil 2 stage tab-like mechanisim... pretty cool, my buddies 1911 has the grip safety but his trigger is hair, i was bringing the gun up to level when, BAM, a round hit 2 feet in front of the target on the ground....... my finger wasnt even curled into the trigger guard, it just bairley brushed the trigger and it went off..... i like the XD trigger, kinda like my friends Ruger.... lemme just keep rambilin.... Agreed. The XD may have a single action trigger like a 1911. But there is more creep. You have to squeeze it back to fire it. It's enough creep that I don't believe accidentally brushing it will fire it. That said, I like the creep. It's smooth to take up. Pressure ramps up nicely and then the trigger breaks at about 4#. Very easy for me to get used to. But I tried my buddy's 1911 45 and it felt like a hair trigger by comparison! The XD's safetys compliment each other. Pull the trigger without depressing the grip safety and the trigger barely budges and the gun can't fire. Even the slide won't come back unless the grip safety is depressed. Likewise, even if you have the grip safety depressed, you must pull the trigger back properly depressing the little forward lever and then the trigger itself to fire the weapon. Brushing the trigger does no good unless the forward lever isn't first depressed and then pull back the trigger while holding the forward lever depressed. I like it. Works for me. I'm just an average Joe shooter at the range. Nothing fancy. But I have really come to appreciate this pistol. I consider it "safe" in it's holster. Once drawn and held, it's hot. That was easy for me to get used to. I like it better than any other handgun I have ever tried. |
Exactly........ CXS |
Absolutely.......and your finger never, ever, never comes off of register until the pistol is on target and you are ready to shoot. Only then should your finger be inside the trigger gaurd. |
