Hey all,
I'm normally a 1911 and BHP guy (although I do own a USP and a G19).  I'm contemplating getting an XD45, but I want to make sure I'm getting a superlative weapon.  Does anyone have any "long term" (I know that's relative since it's a pretty new pistol) tests?  You know, ala "BigBore" or something like that?

Thanks
Rich

I was eyeing up that XD45 too.  But  some guy here reported that most of the XDs that the guys were using in his academy were giving the cadets problems.

Normally I'd discount reports of specific problems with a certain gun, but this guy had a nice size sample of different guns and the XD was the worst.

Thanks Mark,
Any idea of who?  Just wondering if it could be "teething" problems.

Thanks

I've only put maybe 500 rounds through mine across 2-3 range sessions, but I haven't had a single problem with mine at all. Always fed and fired fine.

I know this doesn't help much, but my local range has a rental XD in .40 caliber
that very rarely gets cleaned, and has a round count of over 70,000 rounds.

It was sent back to SA recently for a new barrel, and is still going strong.

I am also waiting for some longer term XD .45 reports before I shell out the money for one.

No.  I can't remember who it was.  It was posted in an XD thread within the last month.  Maybe a search would get you the thread.

I got about 850 rounds through my XD-45 and never had a problem. All it does is feed, go boom, and eject empty brass. I've shot  different crap through it like wolf, surplus, and some reloads.  Finish is holding up and still looks pretty new.

Saturday I passed the 5000 rd mark and I have had zero problems,I have shot WWB,wolf, old surplus, and my reloads. The ammo has been a mix of ball, jhp, and the dreaded swc.

I have thousands of rounds through my XD-9 without a hicup.  Wish I had it over here actually.

How are your magazines holding up? One of my shooting buddies has put about 10K through his XD45 (he loves that gun) but it's chewed up the back of all of his magazines (at the top, opposite the feed side); apparently there is some issue there as SA replaced the mags woth new ones of a slightly different design.

I only have about 500 rounds through mine; no issues so I'm using it as a CCW in my summer fanny pack.

I don't see any signs of chewing on any of my 4 mags.

My XD45 has over 600 rounds through it now. Flawless in every way. It's my favorite handgun.

So far, the only failure I've had with my XD45 with 230 ball ammo (factory and reloads)  was a FTF when I was shooting support hand across my torso while moving parallel to the targets. Pretty sure I limp wristed it. Quick tap, rack, roll and back in business.

The pistol when new also wouldn't eject 185gr SWC reloads (5.6grs W231)-somewhat mild relaods which function 100% in my 1911s. Have not retested it with these loads.

I have 3 1911s and 2 Glock 19s and I just purchased my first XD (XD45Service) and I like the feel of 13+1 rounds of .45ACP in that size of the grip. Have yet to shoot it but I'm sure I will enjoy it as everyone has..

Over a thousand rounds now through mine and it has never had a single hicup. Have shot reloads, CCI Blazer Brass, WWB, Speer Gold Dots, and Federal Hydrashocks.  I also, have about 5000 rounds through my XD9 and that thing has never misfired either.  Great pistols.

my xd45 has close to 1k through it ZERO issues so far. I have even cycled empty cases through it trying to make it fail. i am a hard core 1911 guy and this pistol has replaced my 1911's for my goto gun.
