| I have a Springfield Armory Mil-spec that shoots great. However, when I break the gun down is is quite difficult to slide the slide off the frame. None of my other 45's seem to have this issue. I grease the rails but it make no difference. Has anyone else expirenced this? Thanks |
Thanks, but it doesnt matter if the barrel is in the gun or not. The gun is overly tight where the slide meets the frame. You dont notice this until you field strip the gun because it is only the last inch or so when removing the slide from the frame and when the gun operate the slide doesnt travel far enough to expose this issus. I basically have to use a rubber mallet to pop the slide off the frame. I have another identical Mil-spec and the slide just comes right off. Any input? |

Something odd if you have to use a rubber mallet to remove the slide, IMO. The last bit of frame rail should be just past the feed ramp & over the dust cover, shouldn't be anything protruding up to hinder the slide removal. Since it shoots ok, there's probably not a burr on the rails either. Odd. Has someone else looked at it yet, who knows 1911s????? |

I had the same thing happen when I bought one of those springfield mil spec shit guns. I know exactly what you're talking about. It is apparently normal for springfield, but not normal for the 1911 format. My springfield required the most work of any 1911 I've had to get right. |
