I've done a bit of searching around on this forum, and from what I can see, everyone who owns an XD has said nothing but great things about them. What, if any, are the problems? Would you suggest purchasing a Glock over an XD 9mm? This is not my purchase, but it will be used by a very close friend for home protection for his girlfriend and himself. What are your thoughts? I've always been a Glock shooter, so I'm a bit bias, but I want to get a few more educated opinions. Thanks in advance! Nick |

I have an XD 40. I would suggest getting the 40 over the 9 cause you can just buy a drop in barrel of the 9mm. If you get the 9, you are limited to the 9 only. Most problems are the finish on the gun (wears easily) My XD never had a FTF or FTE. Others have had these. It all depends on your gun and the ammo. If these things do occur, you can send it to SA and they will take care of it for free under lifetime warantee (spelling...) |

My buddies Dad owns a gun shop and had us goto the local indoor range and put the XD's through their paces. We shot the 9, the 40 and the 357 sig. The XDs are very very impressive. They were built to complete with Glocks. The only caliber I found lacking was the .357sig. We compared it to an actual sig and the sig shot the round better and more accurately. But the 9mm and the 40 were sweet. I think youd be hard pressed to find a new gun for that price that is as nice.IMHO Hope that helps |
+1 on the hand issue. +1 on the reliability. Only around 400 rds through my OD XD-40 Tactical, but I have a reason for that.......I'm 18 and no one will sell me .40 S&W ammo. My XD has a decent finish on it though, I've had it since late December and haven't touched it with any erl (That's mid-western for oil I don't regret paying $470 for it either. Money very well spent WIZZO |

I have an XD9 Service Model (4" bbl.) and love it. The only things that I'd advise you about in advance are the already-mentioned averageness of the finish and the ambidexterous magazine release. No, the mag release doesn't have any mechanical problems or anything like that. It's just that I use my XD as my daily carry piece, and I have, in the past, sat down in funny chairs before and partially dumped the mag. This has also happened once while I was leaning up against my pickup truck. I just try to keep from leaning on the piston when I don't really need to. You could also potentially just get a holster that's cut a little big higher on the frame, so that it covers the left-side mag release button. That's my two cents. Enjoy. They're great pistols. |
| I've put a lot through mine1500+, I have had some FTE problems, Pretty sure its the ejector (double feeds). Its not a bad gun at all, but I expect a little better accuracy out of a weapon I own.....I'd go with a milspec 1911, can be had for around the same price and more powerful. |

Ive sold a few of them in the shop I work at part time, and everyone that has purchased them has been very impressed with them. To my knowledge not a single one has been back to be shipped out for factory service. I feel pretty confident from all Ive heard in the shop and elswhere recomending them to customers. |
