I've handled 5 or 6 XDs's, both 9 and 45, in the past several weeks as I'm interested in the 9 as a possible carry pistol. I have yet to fire one as the only range with one in the rental counter hasn't received it back from Springfield yet. All the others are post recall pistols.
One thing I've noticed on all but one of my admittedly small sampling, is that the mag release button is not uniform in the amount of pressure needed to release the mag when comparing both sides. The left-sided button, the one a righty would use with his thumb, takes noticeably more pressure to use than the right-sided button. I've swapped hands to use both thumbs, and both index fingers, and the result is the same. The left button definitely takes more pressure. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas why this would be? |

The one on my XDs 45 just seems to be really, really hard. It was somewhat hard before, it seems harder now after the recall. Can't imagine why. Mine is also unusually hard to depress... I have a post recall XDS. It gets even harder to depress if the trigger is in the fired position. |
| The XDs 45 returned from recall at my local range's rental counter. The mag release on this one definitely required more effort to press on the left side than the right. In addition, the trigger seemed to stick when released and I had one light strike in 50 rounds. Sadly, I'm afraid I wasn't too impressed. |
| It might be different because you use different muscles using your thumb or finger. Are you dropping a full mag or an empty one? The weight of the rounds will weigh down on the magazine catch and make it more difficult to release. An empty magazine should be significantly easier to release. Also how many times will you be trying to release a full mag? |
