I recently purchased a Range Officer and sent it to SA for night sights. The finish had some handling marks on it as well, and I asked them to park it, and I would pay some of the cost. Turn around time was listed as 2 weeks, but I got it back in like 9 days. Finish was perfect and the Harrison design night sights looked great. They didn't charge for the repark job, which was nice. Put about 150 through it and was extremely pleased with the accuracy. One ragged hole for all rounds fired, which was awesome. Head shots were a snap. The R.O. is my new duty weapon and I couldn't be happier with it.  IMHO SA rocks.

I bought a new Range Officer over a year ago and I like it a lot. From looking at my empty ZERO bullet boxes I'd say I have around 3000 rounds thru it and I've had no problem. I have changed the front sight to a Dawson optic fiber because my old eyes are going dim.
I paid $760 for my new RO. For that money, for even $1000 you can't beat the features the RO has and best of all the quality of the fit.
I was so satisfied with the Springfield RO's overall quality so I bought a used-like new in the box Springfield 1911A1 model PI9134LP which is Springfield's stainless steel full size 1911 in 9mm Luger with target sights. The features and quality of fit is just as good as the Range Officer.
The Range Officer has got to be the best full size 1911 out there for under $1000.

Thanks

Picked one up about a month ago, my first Springer but not my first 1911.  It may be the most accurate pistol I own.  For the money these things are hard to beat.  I may put some different grips on mine, more of a cosmetic thing than anything else, but otherwise I'm not messing with it.  There were several to choose from at the show I attended.  I got mine for $735 plus tax.  Lots of them at $799, a few were over $900.

How much did Springfield custom shop charge for the night sights and to install them?

I love my RO, great gun. Everything I've wanted for right now in a 1911. Got mine for $700+ tax.

I picked up one the other day. The slide is hand fit and fit very well. I love it.

I do think I am going to replace the grips to some are a little thinner though.

Here it is with my 1989 Limited edition.

Owned/use a ro for a couple of years now, 10,000+ rounds down the tube without any problems. Do ftf's, no fte,s or any feeding issues of any kind. I paired the ro up with a marvel unit 1 for some rimfire range time also.

The old tried & true HG #68 swc or hp with a target load of bullseye really make these ro's come alive.

When I 1st got my ro I did test loads to find out what was accurate in it, took 15 minutes & 3 test loads to come up with a target load.

For beating & banging on steel or bowling pins & plinking it's hard to beat the lead rnfp hp's.

I really enjoy my bone stock ro as it is right out of the box or with the marvel unit 1 on top of it. I couldn't ask for anything more out of a 1911.
