Alright , I got the DeSantis Single Stack Belt Dual Mag Pouch but I cant decide on a Holster.
I am looking at the DeSantis Thumbreak Scabbard or the Speed Scabbard. I have always carried Glock 19's and had the Thumbreaks, but now this is a 1911 and will be carried w/ hammer back. I am not sure how the Thumbreak works the the 1911 series. You guys have any input? I really want to make sure its secure and doesnt fall out while going from sitting to standing or vise versa. |

I really like the Kramer leather holsters - hold the weapon secure for concealed carry and no strap/thumb break. |

Went out today and found the DeSantis Speed Scabbard (no thumb break) #002BAT6Z0 and the DeSantisThumb Break Scabbard #001BAT6Z0. After trying the gun with hammer back in the Thumb Break Scabbard, I went with that. I feel better that there is a think leather strap in front of the hammer if for any reason (damn near impossible) that the hammer falls while in holster. Not to mention I wanted to be sure it doesn't fall out of the holster while going from standing to sitting or vise versa.
Im wearing it already... just need a new gun belt. This ones a little too flexible after 4 years wearing it. |

I have carried one for a while now, carries nice, accurate and loaded it weighs almost exactly the same as my XD40 service.
Couple things to watch, No front strap checkering, I didn't think it was a big deal but I have noticed that she gets a little slick and just doesn't feel as secure as I would like under recoil. I have seen pre-cut grip tape for it, check the grip sites. Or obviously you could have it checkered. The spring assembly, if this is a duty pistol take that thing apart right now and locktite the guide rod to the stamped backer plate. Mine came apart after about 200 rounds. I have put 3 times that many through it after locktite and it's solid. It would be a bitch to have it come apart when needed, it is a seriously bad feeling to hear it go "ping" and flop out. On the plus side mine eats everything! 230gr gold dots are a favorite on the menu. Most of my guns are tools, ugly, black and useful. (i.e. XD40) but this one is a true beauty. Enjoy! |
