I've seen plenty of good feedback on customer service and custom 1911's.....
Has anybody had them do work on an XD - XDM ? |
| I haven't had any work done on my XDm, but I'm about to send them my MC Operator in the next month or so once I get my tax refund. I've corresponded with them quite a bit and it seems like they are willing to cut discounts on some of their work if you're having other things done. I just sent them an email tonight about 8 or so things I want to have done on my pistol, so I'm not sure how much the mods are going to cost. Like you said, they have nothing short of a stellar reputation. |
| IMO, The Springfield Armory Custom Shop is probably the best out there. I've seen several SACS pistols and would love to own one one of these days. Plus, any work they do carries a warranty and doesn't effect the lifetime warranty that comes with the gun when you buy it. What are you wanting to have done? |

Nothing radical...they have a carry package listed, trigger work , night sights and overall inspection.
The biggest improvement for me would be the sights, the trigger second...seems like a fair deal for $265.00 The gun fit me noticeably better than a Glock ,M&p ,HK, for me ..and the trigger isn't real bad at just over 6lb now. I would just have the trigger in the 5-5.5 range - but cleaned up along with the sights. I understand that Powder River and Springer Precision are held in high regard but...I'm thinking, minimal changes by original manufacturer. I never thought I like a plastic pistol...but the 3.8 compact impressed me and I've picked up an XDS. |

Yeah, Both PRP and Springer are good, but I still like going through SACS just because of the warranty standpoint. That's not a bad deal on the carry package at all. After you take into account the price of the sights, and the time they spend going over it, it's a fair deal overall. James from XD-HS2000.com also does sight installations and custom finish jobs. If you ever decide to go that route he's definitely worth checking out. You can see some of his work on XDTalk. His user name is ajamesp51.
Springfields are great guns. I have an XD9 Stainless Service, an XD45 Compact, and an XDs 45 Stainless for my conceal carry. They are just great guns, and the customer service and warranty are top notch. Every time I've went in thinking I might pick up a Glock or something else, I end up with another Springfield. They feel good in my hand and I shoot them very well. You'll have to let us know how everything comes out when you get it back. Pics or it didn't happen! |

I had them put in a trigger in an XDm 45. Didn't take long and the trigger is sweet. Wish they'd fixed the problem with the gun before they sent it over to the custom shop, though. Still having issues with failure to go all the way into battery. Looks like I'm going to have to send it back again.. |
