Having a bayonet is the very definition of bringing a knife to a gun fight
Just got a Springfield Armory XD-9 Tactical from a buddy of mine. He's had it for over a decade and wanted to replace it with a XD Mod 3. So, I bought it off him. Goes nicely with my December 1999 made HS2000 and the rest of the XD stable.  I purchased a XD-45 and XDM-45 because they can use the same mags. Same reason why I purchased the XD-9 off my friend. I already had the HS200 and a pile of magazines. |

The 2nd is not about hunting, it never was. It was put in place for one reason and one reason only. You can't have them, we won't give them up, so get over it.

My small Springfield collection, wish the prodigy was available in OD, may get it cerakoted some day, just picked the blue sa35 yesterday. I picked up a XD-40 Bi-Tone with 6 mags for cheap yesterday. Ordered a batch of mags for it for a steal. $4.99 per mag, limited to 10 mags per order per day. I love that people hate .40 S&W, means the guns and mags are cheap for me.

Pic thread: https://i.imgur.com/h7hnFom.jpeg See, what had happened was… She Who Must Be Obeyed asked if I was looking to buy a pistol, and I said yes, the short SA35. She asked how much, and then said go ahead. So I added it to the cart and hit submit order. I had forgotten (and did not notice when completing the order) that I had earlier in the day put a Glock 48 in my cart. I had an FDE G48 frame and I was pricing out what a slide would be to see if it would be cheaper to just buy a whole G48. Thus, I ended up with both pistols. I figured this would be easier to just go ahead and keep both and if the universe had brought this all to pass who was I to stand in the way of that? I really do like the 4” SA35. A lot more than I expected I would. I can’t really explain it but the difference in feel seems to be more different than just losing an inch of slide. The only “complaint” I have would be that there was some kind of funk in the soft case that the pistol shipped in. It looked like some kind of solvent or something had deteriorated the material in the case down into the padding. There was a corresponding section of funk on the front of the slide that matched up to the size and shape. The counter guy and I hit the spot on the pistol with some CLP and a brush, and the residue came off. The finish isn’t messed up, and I need to get a little bit more off of the slide. It’s coming off the surface of the slide, and there does not appear to be any kind of corrosion to the metal or damage to the finish. It’s just taking some time and effort to remove whatever it is. Here is the spot on the case.  The original grips that came it with it were more like oak than walnut, there was a pretty strong yellow tinge to them. I hit them with a couple of coats of PTO and they have darkened up, but still not like the grips that came with my first SA35. I put a spare set of grips on the 4” while I was hitting the others up with the oil, but I may just keep them on there if they don’t darken more with more applications.  Next I think I might have to figure out a way to accidentally order the polished blued SA35. |
