So I was at sportsmans today to get some ammo and they had an xds in. I love my xdm. So I kinda impulse bought it. What do you guys think of this gun? Any one ran one before? I have only read reviews on it.

I bought one.  I LOVE the gun.  Great shooter and great carry.  I have had zero issues with it.

But others have been having alot of failure to fire issues.  SA recommends a good cleaning and a little more oil then other guns.  Keep on eye on out for firing pin damage too.  Some people have been reporting this issue.

Bought my wife one last night and she is hoping that FlashBang will make a holster for it.  I am still carrying an XDmc until I can save up enough to get my own XDs.

Just got one yesterday. Bought it at a gunstore/range so I put a box through it. Did 3yds, 7, 10, 15, & 22. At 22 yards, I put 4 of 8 into the chest. The other 4 dropped. I wasnt being particularly careful with my aiming though. At all other ranges, this thing is spot on.

I just ordered a Comp Tac Minotaur holster and some 7 rnd mags for it today. This will be my main CCW especially during the hot and sweaty months. My Sig 220 carry elite is great but during the summer its is a bunch harder to conceal and I am afraid of it rusting behind the slide release.

Used to have the XD so I had no qualms about picking this up.

Exactly 300 rounds thru mine with no malfunctions. I run it pretty wet and its been 100%. Mines the 2 tone, by the way. I intend to carry it after the 500 round mark. Another range trip or 2. It lives up to its name for sure. Very slim. Easy to tote.

I picked up a two-tone model yesterday and hope to shoot it today.  My dealer said he can't keep them in stock.  UPS dropped two off on Friday, and the all black sold within minutes.  I just happened to walk in on Saturday and mentioned it- he had just the one left.

I'll post up some pictures later if I get it out.

Wow, I really like this gun!

I ran 300 rounds of hardball through the new Springfield XDs today.  It performed flawlessly other than two minor hiccups, and did so for 300 rounds, unlike the Taurus .38 Special it was purchased to replace.  The little revolver began to choke after about 70 rounds due to the build-up of burned powder residue in the cylinder gap.

I needed to put on one of my flight gloves after just a couple magazines out of the Springfield as the recoil was causing the trigger to bite my finger.

The hiccup was two failures to fire- I pulled the trigger, heard a click, but no bang.  It did the one malfunction twice around 250 rounds in.  I think the slide wasn't going forward enough to put the gun completely into battery.  The primer on the failed rounds had no indentation at all, so the firing pin never made contact.  It was a minor malfunction that won't affect my carry of the gun once it's clean.

This is five rounds (one magazine full) from about 30' semi supported:

Before I stuffed the earplugs into my ears I heard some flies buzzing.  I scanned the hillside looking for something dead but didn't see anything.  After shooting for for 15 minutes or so, I looked to my right and spotted this dead coyote.  Perfect camouflage; I was standing about 20 feet away the whole time and never saw it.

I went to the range today and had mixed results. Limp writing caused some 4 failures to completely go into battery, and 1 light strike. However there is a magazine release issue: 1 mag would jam the slide after the last shot, or if put into the gun empty, there would be a second click, and if you try to lock the slide back, it again jams, and the mag will not fall free, you have to pull it out. The other mag started to do this (not locking the slide back if inserted empty)  by the end of the 240 rounds I shot today. It seems the follower goes up a bit too high.
All that said, while using the good mag and the 7 rounder I have, I shot the last 60 rounds of so without any issues. I called SA CS and they said send the gun and 1 mag back on their dime by Fedex 2 day. They said 2 to 4 week turnaround.
I like the gun and it is fun to shoot. My reloads are a bit less powerful than factory WW Walmart Value Pack, and easier to shoot, as well as mesuring in OAL within much closer specs than the factory ammo. Too bad mine wasn't ready for prime time. It is just my luck. My serial number is XS5070xx.

I have the BiTone one.  Put another 100+ through it today without a hitch.  Even shooting single handed weak side.  Glad I'm one of the lucky ones.  Mine has yet to malfunction at all.  I carry mine in a Harwell Clip N Go hybrid holster.  They are little backed up at the moment..

I found one at the LGS when I went in to buy an AR last month, so I picked it up... I didn't mean to, it was very much an impulse buy, but I don't regret it.  I've shot over 600 rounds through it without a single issue, other than it does shoot low and left... I'd blame myself, but others who I've let shoot it also shoot low and left with it.

Unfortunately reading XDtalk, you're seeing a lot of gripe threads about the gun.   Part of me suspects, being as it is the XD forum, anyone having an issue with their XDs and does an internet search will find XDtalk, and migrate over there to have a say on their issues.  If you read only XDtalk for reviews and information about the gun, a potential buyer might think the gun is riddled with issues and isn't worth it, but polls over there have also shown, the number of people having issues is far less than the people with flawless weapons.  The people not having issues don't need to make threads about how good their gun is operating.

The "problems" I had with my XDS were completely my fault, like not using enough pressure from my support hand...which caused me to shoot low and left...a little bit more support from my support hand and now it's dead nuts.  Or, limp wristing..."no way, not me, I've been shooting guns all my life, and I compete in USPSA and IDPA matches,...". Guess what?  I was limp wristing.  Now my wrist is completely locked, as it should be, and I have a 100% reliable and accurate gun, and I'm a better shooter because I figured out some of my flaws that were not as noticeable when shooting full size pistols.  The XDS is awesome!

I picked up my XDs yesterday. Field stripped it found no junk in/on it. Lubed it up & put it back together. Took it to the range this afternoon & ran 100 rds of Federal 230 gr FMJ value pack thru it without any problems. It does eject empties from 3pm to 6 pm. Perfect primer strikes.

All in all it ran fine.  I'll run more thru it later.

Mentioning this, I'll have to check my form too.  I haven't had any problems feeding or ejecting ammo, but I do consistently shoot low and left... Instead of checking my form I've just compensated by moving my point of aim, to hit where I want, not exactly a good way to do things with a carry weapon, I know

I put another 150 rounds through mine today to try out the two new 7-round magazines- it was 100% with FMJ and 50 rounds of Federal HST 230gr HPs.  I even staggered three magazines full to try and make it jam, but it ate everything.  It's not in the carry rotation for concealed days with the 5+1 in the gun and the two seven round mags as back-ups.

Mines got about 800 rounds through it now and no issues.  Only issue I have with it is I'm finding it very difficult to shoot it past about 40 yards, but, its a pocket gun, not my 1911.

Just got back from shooting my new XDS, as you said it worked perfect. I shot 100 rounds of mixed Walmart Federal and WWB 230 ball, not 1 jam, or problem. Accurate little gun, recoil was not bad. Trigger is a little stiff, hope that will smooth out, very pleased with this gun.

I picked one up Friday and took it out for the first time today.  I put 110 rounds through it, shooting a mix of PMC 230 gr. FMJ, Federal 230 gr. +p HST's, and 200 gr. LSWC reloads.  The XDS functioned fine with all loads.  I was shooting at about 10 yards and the gun seemed to print about a foot low for me.  Recoil wasn't too bad with the target loads, but the gun is a beast with the +p HST's.  I can fit three fingers on the grip but I discovered that it was more comfortable to shoot when I tuck my pinky in under the magazine base plate.  In the end, I think it is a neat little gun, and I do like the thinness of it, but I don't think it will be replacing my Glock 26.  To me, the grip is a little too aggressive for extended shooting sessions, not to mentioned .45 is a lot of cartridge for a gun in that form factor.  I'll keep shooting it, and may order some Talon Grips or use some inner tube to tame the spikes that Springfield is trying to pass off as texturing.

I get about the same grip.  If I try to shoot like that my pinky will slip off every few rounds due to recoil, messing up my grip.  If I do it while shooting defensive loads, my pinky will slip off just about every shot, and it can be quite uncomfortable.  I need to practice drawing with my pinky tucked under the base plate.  Honestly, I wish the grip was just a tad shorter so it was automatic for me, like with my G26.  I wouldn't like giving up another round to make that happen though.  Guess I'll just need to train to keep my pinky off the grip if I decide to add my XDS to the carry lineup.

I purchased one last month to replace my G26. I wanted something thinner as I am a slim guy. My buddy had one and I liked what I saw so I purchased my own Well I sold it Friday and purchased a M&P Shield. What made me get rid of the gun was when I took it to the range for some defensive shooting drills. 10 rounds at 10 yards with the 26 as fast as I could acquire the target. All shots center mass. I then tried the same with my Smith 442 J-frame. 4 center mass and 1 high on the left shoulder. Lastly I tried the XDS. NO shots on target.  I drew from the holster with all 3 guns. The XDS is a great shooter when taking your time. FOR ME, this is not the gun to use in a defensive situation as I know from practicing with it that I may not hit my target.  The gun is a handful when shot fast as one may encounter in a defensive situation. I've been shooting for over 25 years. 22 years of that in the military, so my technique is sound. If you are going to carry this gun or any gun as a defensive weapon, please make sure that you can hit with it.
