I can't find a picture but is there a tool to remov the guide rod on a lightweight champion? After researching I found this quote from another forum. Where can I find this tool or can I make one?

"the champion has a one piece recoil spring guide rod assembly - there is no whole in the the guide rod to use a paper clip.

the piece you are looking for is black and looks like a thick 1/2 tube that has been cut in half top to bottom. "

That's the first thing I lost when I got mine.

Personally, I just take it down like a regular automatic. Pull the slide back until the notch lines up with the slide stop, push it out from the other side, and slide the entire upper half of the gun off. Reassemble the same way. Far easier than docking around with that little clip.

Here is some pictures of my gun. That half moon thing won't work on my guide rod because there no lip to keep it on. Also this guide rod doesnt have a hole so you cant put a pin/hex key/paper Clip in it to hold the spring. I'm baffled.

Ah, definitely different from mine. You put the recoil buffer in or did you get it like that?

I bought it like that, I got it apart and I think I'm gonna replace the guide rod with some easier to take down.

At the bottom of the picture you can see the quide rod and plug and I used 1/4 in deep socket to compress the spring. Here's the crappy part, when it was compressed I used a screwdriver against the slide which held the plug down. The I pulled a little and it popped out. Left a tiny mark. I know this isn't the proper way to remove but I got it apart. There's no other way this could have went down. If it had the tiny hole like it supposed to then this wouldn't be an issue. Is it possible someone used a guide rod used for a Bushing 1911 and a reverse plug, That's why it missing the hole for the paperclip trick?
