I just purchased an XDm 4.5 9mm.  The magazine is very difficult to remove with any more than 5 rounds in a mag.  With all 19 it is near impossible to drop the mag with a standard grip.  I have to use the other hand or rotate the gun and use as much force as I can muster.  It is not a huge issue, as there is no real time pressure I can conceive of where I must be in some big rush to drop a full mag, but I can foresee a tactical reload situation in which I wish to top off and with 5-15 rounds it is still quite difficult to do so.

1) Does this get better with break in/time?

2) Is there any way to improve this/modify the firearm

Thanks.

If you push the mag up a little then you will be able to push the mag release with almost no force.

This is very common with the XDMs. As stated push up on mag. In time of use this will go away.

Thanks, mens.  I am new to these firearms, although I have recommended 2 friends to make them their own.  This thing is beaucoup accurate!

Now onto what mods to do.

I think a fiber optic front sight only will be best, as the tritiums are the least visible in daylight (primarily an IDPA competition gun-SSP)

I am definitely going to seek an overtravel reduction as well as a trigger pull reduction.  Me thinks 4 lbs sounds about right, as I intend to carry this thick mutha wif regularity.

I have not decided to go with the in-house Spr. Custom shop or a local gunsmithy and something from Springer or whoever it was.

Thoughts?  Thanks!
