Taurus quality recently has been hit or miss. when it's a hit u get an economical gun that functions but usually is gritty and such. when it's a miss u get a lemon that won't function and goes back to the factory, and returns as a lemon still.

I had a 608 ten years ago and it was a good reliable shooter. Big heavy N frame that needed to be cut for moonclips.

Do you feel lucky?

I have a 605 I got as a gift.

It's been flawless and surprisingly accurate for a snub nose.

My 709slim not so much... I sent it back to Taurus and when I got it back I sold it.

I say go for it though as their revolvers have a better track record imo.

I don't have a 608, but I do have a Taurus .357 (627SS). I love it, it's been flawless for the last 5 years or so. What I've heard about Taurus revolvers is that the timing can have issues. Cock and release the hammer (not dry fire) a hundred times or so, and if there's no timing issues I would be confidant that it's okay (if your thumb will go a hundred times straight).

The trigger on mine has a crisp, repeatable release, but it is a little gritty in DA.

I`ve had my 608 for about 10 yrs and it has been flawless. Mine has a great trigger, not gritty at all. Go for it.

Not a single issue out of mine, 605 2 in. chambered for .357. Kicks like a mule, but I'm confident in it. Wheel guns are awesome.
