I cannot keep the frame sizes correct.
Bought a S&W 66-2 .357 yesterday. The stock grips are too large.
Also my S&W 657 .41 mag has the same style just a little too large grips.
Going to buy some Pachmayrs.
What frame sizes are these weapons??
Thanks.

The 66's are K-frames.  The 41 mag. should be an N-frame.

586,686,581,681,619,620,696, 610=L frame .357,.44 spec, 10mm
29,629,28,57,657,25,625,27,24,624,627=N frame .357,.44 spec.,.44 mag,.45 LC, .45 acp
10,19,66,64,67,15,65,13=K frame .38 special and .357 mag

Then you also need to know if it is a round or square butt.

657 is just a stainless steel 57 which is an N frame.

Thanks.
DO I have to take the grips off to determine a round or square butt?
Both have flat bottom grips.
I will probably take off the grips before ordering new grips.
Are Pachmayer grips the best or just the most common?

Pachmayr and Hogue are the best/only rubber grips now available.

The Pachmayr Gripper has an enclosed back strap.  The Gripper Professional has an open back strap. Both have finger grooves.

The Hogue Mono-Grip is a little harder to install because you have to install a stirrup device on the grip frame first and this is slightly awkward to install.
However, once its installed the Mono-Grip is the most solidly mounted grip.
The Mono-Grip has an open back strap and is very popular due to the feel.

The 66-2 will have a square butt frame unless it's a 2.5" barreled model.

Thanks,
I used to make fun of revolvers a little.
They are growing on me.
